Joe Mixon for Adams + high 2020 1st

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Joe Mixon for Adams + high 2020 1st

Postby Kmani6 » Thu Apr 11, 2019 7:16 am

Yo,
So I got the offer above and I'm debating it. I view Mixon really highly, so let's just say I think he's around Zeke level right below Saquon for next year. My league is full PPR, but also .2 PPC so RB's score a ton. I think Zeke had like 80 receptions last year and probably around 300 carries so that comes out to 130 points which is more than any WR will have for receptions anyways. I'm not worried about long term as my bench depth has a lot of good upside guys, and I have a mid and a late 2020 1st as well as 3 high 2nds. However, this 2020 1st could be around 3rd as this guy finished last, last year. I really want to win this year, though, and I think the point difference between Mixon and Adams will honestly be like 70+ points. I know the deal favors the adams side, but considering I am HIGHLY competitive this year, should I take it?

So, I feel you, I love Mixon too. I like his ceiling a lot in 2019. That being said, your roster could become highly balanced and more consistent by adding a superstar WR like Adams. The fact you get a possibly high first-round pick in a loaded draft class is a sweet kicker. I think you'd become more competitive with this deal, be getting more value in the trade, and creating more security long term. I'd take it.

I think in a vacuum the trade is fairly balanced, and maybe with the 0.2 ppc slightly towards mixon. However given your roster, I really like moving mixon for Adams. It MAY sting a little this year, but I think starting form next year going forward the value is all on your side.

^Exactly what I was thinking. My only other thing was that Adams is 26 and so in 4 years he'd be around 30, and mixon would only be 26. So do you guys really think his longevity will be that much higher?

I think i stick with Mixon here even with the value on the Adams side. Mixon will be a top 5 RB over the next several years imo, and that is just so hard to find. I would maybe look to sell off one of your other 3 top RBs that all have question marks to get a strong 3rd WR option in your lineup.

Depends how much trust you have in Bell and Gurley this year. I think you need the support that Adams would bring more this year. But, if you're worried about Gurley I'd probably hold.

In fact, I'd probably be trying to sell Gurley for even more.

The ppc definitely makes Mixon more valuable, but I think an early 1st should be enough to close the gap.

snap accept for Adams + 2020 1st

As much as the Mixon owners might not want to hear this, that early 2020 1st will very likely be on par with Mixon. Go check out some tape on Jonathan Taylor, Travis Etienne, and D'andre Swift; then your hesitation about moving Mixon will subside

NTM: you have Gurley, Bell, and Dalvin all at RB for this season, so moving Mixon won't sting your starting lineup. Actually, I'd argue that adding Adams would actually make your team/starters more competitive this yr.

Adams side for me. You should consider that Gb offense and ARod were not exactly clicking on all cylinders last year and Adams is expected to see more snaps from the slot this year. If his numbers increase any at all, that poinr differential vanishes.

In normal scorng ADams>Mixon, I guess with the PPC it makes it more even, the extra 1st makes this a no brainer, you're team is great but it lacks true WR1 potential and you have plenty of RB's to make up for Mixon + next year you'll be in an even greater spot to win when you draft a top 3 RB in a STUD class.
