Tampa Bay Running Back?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Tampa Bay Running Back?

Postby Nimrod » Wed Apr 03, 2019 1:55 am

Who will Arians lead guy be? He typically has a pass catcher that rushes for 1,000 yards. Not convinced it’s Rojo or Barber.

I want in on the lead back, whoever it is

Love to hear some chatter on this

I’m not excited about any of their options to be honest. Right now Barber is their starter but last season he finished as RB 31 while 9th in carries. On top of that he isnt going to catch a lot of passes. So not much upside there.

As far as Penny goes, he is too small to carry a large load and he also doesn’t catch passes. I didn’t like him last season coming out and obviously he did nothing to change my mind.

Arians likes his RBs to catch passes out of the backfield and the only player they have on their roster that can do that is Ellington but he is close to 31 and seems to be always injured.

So maybe their starter isn’t on the roster yet. I would be shocked if they drafted one since they spent a 2nd rounder on Jones last year but they haven’t signed anyone either. So who knows. I think Yeldon would be a good fit so maybe him.

I really thought Yeldon would be landing in Tampa because of the way Arians uses his backs and I suppose that could still happen. I think Joness II might get more chances this year but I'm guessing there lead RB is not on the roster yet.

Yeldon would be signed right now if he didnt feed into all the drama that Fournette stirred up late last year. They're probably looking for a mid round guy. Singletary? Travyeon Williams? I would love either of those guys upside in TB offense.

As someone who rosters Barber, I'll be nervous every time the BUCS are on the clock in the draft. I'm hopeful he'll have at least a time share next year or more, but not overly confident. I offered Barber to the ROJO owner in my league who quickly declined, citing he doesn't like either of them and thinks they will draft another RB. Barber is still only 25 though...so he's a hold for me and likely someone I'll keep as part of my 16 keepers this summer.
"Marathon Square" - 16 team full PPR league with 24 player roster. Keep 16 per year indefinitely, draft 8. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Team DST
QB: Jordan Love, Deshaun Watson
RB: Travis Etienne, Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, Kendre Miller, Jaleel McLaughlin, Sean Tucker, Deuce Vaughn
WR: A.J. Brown, Garrett Wilson, Tee Higgins, Calvin Ridley, Michael Wilson, Kendrick Bourne, Tutu Atwell, Allen Lazard, Isaiah Hodgins, Justin Shorter
TE: T.J. Hockenson, Cole Kmet, Kylen Granson
K: Didn't make the playoffs in 2023  , and don't usually hold one in the offseason
Team DST: Cowboys, Lions

Picks:
2024: All my picks except 3rd rounder

Disclaimer: My one and only Championship in this league was way back in 2011. Therefore, take my replies with the appropriate grain of salt.

I have no idea.

It could be Barber.
It could be RoJo.
It could be someone else.

I personally would not invest heavily in this backfield either way; since their run blocking is still garbage.

I'm only buying low, real low, on any RB at TB. I doubt anyone is selling low though because:
ROJO owners are likely going to hold on because the spent a first (although, the best chance to buy low may be during draft)
Barber owners want to believe, have to believe, that he's the answer.

seems like the consensus is wait for the NFL draft and hope they pick up an RB. othewise????? how much fantasy relevance does Jones or Barber have in a split?
