Trade Advice on AJ Greene

Postby lawingj52 » Sun Jan 06, 2019 6:05 pm

I traded for Greene before our trade deadline to help give me a push in the Playoffs. Obviously I got no production out of him due to his injury. Should I put him on the block this offseason and if so, what do you think I could get in return to help my team? Also, there is an owner that owns 3 2nds (21,22,24), he has some interest in Greene but would you take 2-3 2nds in return for Greene?

Your team is a contender from the looks of it. I'd hold fast and try to win a 'ship instead of a bunch of 2nds.

Green was a WR1 before his injury. He didn't look as if age has had much affect at this point. He'll be 31 next year, but still looks good. No way a bunch of 2nds are a substitute for AJ.

Maybe just my OCD but how do you play fantasy football and not know how to spell A.J. Green?

Thank you, OCD brother.

Also I would keep AJG.

Haha. It was bothering me too. And it’s not like his name is spelled weird...like Rashad Greene.

But yes, keep AJG for that price.

Glad I wasn't the only one.

As for the question, don't move Green for that horrible price. you want to move him for someone that will help you next year, but I don't know why you don't think he can be that piece. Second round picks definitely aren't going to help you next year.

AJG was avg 18.4 points per game (I didn't count the game he got hurt right away) last year which would have been 12th overall over 16 games. He still has it and I believe a lot more of these WRs are going to be playing into their mid 30s like Fitz with the medical advances and training these guys are doing now. Your team is stacked in a 12 team, especially at TE. If you could pair Henry and AJG for an upgrade WR that is about all I would do. I doubt it is enough for Adams or Hopkins though. To get them it would probably have to be Kittle since HH missed the whole year

Since you must start 3WR, you need AJ more than the picks anyway. He's still a keeper in that format unless the offer is significant.

what is Green worth at this point? I floated an offer out to my whole league that I'd sell him for a 2020 first and so far no one has responded...thought that'd be a steal for Green but apparently it's not market value.

The time to sell Green is NOT right now. It's right before the season starts when the redraft rankings come out and everyone has Green solidly as a top 10 receiver or higher. That's when teams who are a piece or two away will deal you closer to his true value. Right now he's an old receiver who has missed the end of the season 2 of the last 3 seasons - not the ideal time. Not even close.
