if someone jumps off a bridge onto a burning pile of railroad spikes would you do that as well ?
Amusing mockery but not really all that helpful I would reckon no?

It really depends how many people jump off this bridge. If a small amount of people jump, then it is likely that the railroad spikes scenario will be nullified - either by knocking over the spikes so they don’t impale anymore jumpers - or by piling enough corpses on top of the spikes that any additional jumpers will simply rebound off corpses instead of being impaled.

Now that the impalement factor is taken care of, this brings us to the secondary safety concern, the “burning” part of the pile of the railroad spikes. Assuming the pile is still at least partially burning after the first “small” wave of jumpers/corpses knocks over the spikes, then the second “larger” wave will most certainly extinguish the remaining flames due to the large masses of corpses smothering the flames. Two down, one to go.

The last remaining threat in this scenario is gravity itself. They say it’s not the fall that kills you, it’s the impact. Well, if you thought the first two hordes of jumpers were impressive, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Last, but certainly not least, is the third and largest horde of jumpers yet. After this last mass exodus off the bridge, the piles of corpses will be so massive that the fall off the bridge is only a measly 10 feet. And if the short fall is not convenient enough, the impact will be softened by the mountains of gelatinous meat bags that were formerly jumpers.

So to answer your question CC, if enough people do in fact jump off the bridge onto burning railroad spikes, then the scenario becomes a moot point because:
1) The jump itself, the fall, and the impact are virtually non-existent,
2) The burning pile of railroad spikes is extinguished,
3) The railroad spikes themselves no longer present an inpalement hazard.

So, if enough people make that sacrifice, then the jump will be rendered safe.

I think in this case, Turcorox is a jumper. And I think CoD has finally reached his breaking point as well, and took the dive. Just need a few more posters like this and the forum will be rendered safe once again.
