This is why I'm not excited. He has a clear path to snaps but the offense isn't good.

That offense looked last-year Browns awful against the "vaunted" Dolphins, so I'm concerned about pretty much every Titan skill position player. The Grudge wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 9:21 am Also looking forward to seeing Jonnu play. Drafted him last year and have been holding. I am worried about the offense though. Hopefully they wake up and start playing better all around.
Especially against the gauntlet of strong D's coming up.
Never mind all the major injuries they've already sustained.
Normally this would just feel like Week 1 loss pessimism, but honestly it feels more like Week 1 realism.

Re: Jonnu Smith
Kinda curious how much FAAB to spend on him ($500 FAAB league). I had him on a bunch of teams, but cut him off every single one of them after the Delanie extension, including a cut sunday morning before kickoff. Just one of those years lol. What proportion of $500 would you think is wise to lock him in? I love his talent and suspect the Titans will move on from Walker after this year if the cap hit isn't bad for the stupid extension they gave him. Any thoughts? (The leagues I play in our 22 man rosters with a kicker and d, so not a ton of room).
Re: Jonnu Smith
Extending Delanie wasn't stupid he's a great football player and team leader who had a bit of bad luck...buuuuut to answer your question, just based on opportunity alone he might be a TE2 this season with upside to grow long term? Spend accordingly, this is what you have FAAB for.
Final thought...Jonnu is still a long term investment. The majority of Delanie's targets will be redistributed to Davis, Lewis & Matthews I'd guess. Don't go crazy to acquire Jonnu but be patient with him if you own him.

I bid 22% and got him, not sure what the next closest bid was. I have been reading about what a great prospect he is for a while now and was happy to take a chance on him now with Walker gone this year.
Titan offense does look to be a mess but "if" Jonnu has some talent, the offense may continue to go through the TE in the pass game to make him a worthwhile investment....

If you are not a legit contender I'd probably do it. If you are contending I might wait until Olsen is 100% certain to not play this season. I do expect he'll retire next year though.MrUbuto wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 11:06 amWould you or anyone cut olsen for jonnu or Ian thomas?btv802 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 9:34 am Extending Delanie wasn't stupid he's a great football player and team leader who had a bit of bad luck...buuuuut to answer your question, just based on opportunity alone he might be a TE2 this season with upside to grow long term? Re: Jonnu Smith
I just cut Olsen for Jonnu...free off the wire. I have Doyle and Burton in the meantime, but wanted another TE to replace that roster spot. I don't feel like Olsen is ever going to provide a startable option and edge for my team ever again, hard to trust him over those other two options until he's stayed healthy long enough, and then his career will be over.MrUbuto wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 11:06 amWould you or anyone cut olsen for jonnu or Ian thomas?btv802 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 9:34 am Extending Delanie wasn't stupid he's a great football player and team leader who had a bit of bad luck...buuuuut to answer your question, just based on opportunity alone he might be a TE2 this season with upside to grow long term? Re: Jonnu Smith
He's awful. The Titans just called up an UDFA from their practice squad because the TE position has been such a disaster. He has also had some bad "hit him right in the chest" drops and it seems that Mariota doesn't even look his way right now.
Re: Jonnu Smith
Mariota has also been a huge steaming pile, injury or not, Mariota is averaging ~130 yards passing a game.
That entire offense is dysfunctional....but what do you know, they blew up against Philly...and not even Eli could do that.

Re: Jonnu Smith
Tennessee's offense hasn't been good and Mariota has been bad as well. I think it was asking a lot for a 2nd year TE to step in and give you what Delanie Walker does, which is a complete TE.
I wouldn't write him off long-term just yet, but this year it's not looking good. TE's are notoriously slow to develop no matter how talented you are.

Re: Jonnu Smith
Funny this thread got bumped. I just dropped him earlier today. He was a bit of a deep stash for my league and he nor the rest of the offense has looked very good. He needs more time to develop and I needed the spot for guys scoring points right now.
Re: Jonnu Smith
The good news is that in a lot of leagues you'll be able to re-acquire him down the road as there are plenty of other names for people to chase. I think Smith is going to be a patience play - but whether the patience is rewarded or not I cannot yet say.
