Perine was just dropped in my dynasty league. Is he worth rostering in a 16 team league? My depth at running back is a little thin with Guice on the IR.

There are many players that fit this description rostered in my dynasty league. We have average to slightly above average roster sizes...nothing crazy.

It's because we dont roster OL for fantasy...

Haha right. I would never argue he has any trade value in dynasty but to completely dismiss the possibility that he's worth rostering in a 16 team league is kind of ignoring the reality of how many players might be rostered in a league that size. Show me a list of 448 players (16 teams x 28 players) worth rostering over Samaje Perine.

CT and AP are banged up and Perine might be one injury away from getting touches. He had two games of 120+ all purpose yards last year behind a much worse offensive line than the one that is blocking in Washington today. He's 100% worth rostering in reasonably deep leagues.

I figure the average amount of RB on any roster with 28 players is 8? So that's around 130 RB rostered in 16 teamer.

The average NFL team has 3-4 options so that's about the same amount.

Dont get me wrong though. Perine is hot trash and probably your first drop once anyone else in the league gets a carry

There are literally starting RBs in the NFL that I'd describe as "hot trash" as well. Peyton Barber comes to mind.

The reality is...by and large RBs are a product of their offensive line and offensive schemes, not vice versa. Last year the Redskins had an injured and terrible offensive line. Perine struggled behind it but still had some very good days for fantasy. When healthy, like this season, Washington has a great line so generally speaking, it's good to own backs in that offense.

The biggest take away for me seeing the success AP is having behind this line, Derrius Guice would have absolutely shredded in his rookie season if he'd been healthy.

I would 100% drop Jakeem Grant for Perine in a 16-team league. I'm not sure that Peterson will play this week despite his assurances, and even if he does, I don't know that he and/or Thompson can stay healthy all season. Perine can be a flex play if either RB misses time behind a decent WAS offensive line.

This thread might be the best thread to review if you want to know what people thought about Perine last year. Personally I think he is one of many backs who has some talent but either is in the wrong system, or does not do what the Redskins want. Different team different situation different result possible.
