Jay Ajayi on IR - Smallwood an RB2 now?

My guess is a committee: Clement/Sproles/Smallwood once they all get healthy.

I agree, but the question is when will that happen?

Really I think however this plays out is temporary. There was talk they tried to trade for Mark Ingram previously and he's a FA this offseason.

Maybe wishful thinking, but it seems like the narrative pre-injury was that Clement was the most talented back on the team and when Ajayi inevitably got hurt it would be Clement time and he'd steal the job. Isn't there less of a committee now?

I think Smallwood will be the most valuable back. Clement will get some touches.

I'd add Josh Adams if you have roster space. Long shot, but that's why you have churnable roster room.

Ugh, this pisses me off so much. Drafted Smallwood as a late-round dart two years ago, held him for a long time and he was a relative zero...other than one big game against Pittsburgh (I think)...now he's on someone else's roster and probably going to get a real good look.

It'll be a split between Clement and Smallwood with a dash of Adams here and there. No need to go the FA route. Sproles, when healthy could garner 5-6 touches. Smallwood and Clement have rb2 upside but still will have a low floor due to uncertainty of workload week to week. Both Clement and Smallwood have shown flashes of competency and effectiveness.

Glad I sold my only share of Ajayi last week in a package to acquire Fournette. Sold Ajayi, DT, and J.Brown for Fournette, a future 3rd and 50 bucks of bb$
