It's pretty clear McVay is in love with Cooks we just have to hope that extends beyond him thinking Cooks fits into a very specific and limited role in his offensive system, and rather that he just wants to feed the little man with targets until he bursts

Right, kind of like how McVay never used a 3-down RB or had a lead RB with more than 17 receptions...until he got Todd Gurley.

124 yards per game.

20ypc.

so much for the narrative that goff couldn't get the ball downfield to him.

Yeah it was comical when I would read those comments. Cooks was not the problem last year, Brady's arm was the 'problem'.

Yes but to ever suggest that Brady has misfired is blasphemy.

Really though, Cooks was underthrown on multiple would-have-been big touchdown passes. Brady reads the field with the best of them but his arm has gotten weaker.

once the tds come, and they will, cooks will be a top 10 wr.

the chemistry between goff and cooks will get better as the year progresses. goff will learn to throw the ball earlier and let cooks go get it. three times this season the ball was let go a tad late. twice against the raiders it ended up being dpi, and a 50+ yard reception against the cards. pretty soon they will all be long range tds.

I agree with you completely Valhalla. I have all the respect in the world for Brady, but there are many(not you) who believe he shows no sign of slowing and it simply is not true. Brady is utilizing the cerebral part of playing QB, which is huge, but it does have a limit. It reminds me of Peyton when he had a huge year late in his career and so many thought he would go on for several more years.

He's still getting underthrown deep, but they look like timing issues with Goff. They're finally using him to his strengths (i.e. not as just a deep threat). He's got top 5 upside in that offense as him and Goff get more comfortable.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

I’ll keep buying Cooks as WR1 with no hesitation. He’s legit.

Glad no one wanted to buy him from me in the offseason as a top 20 guy...

The Gurley threat is so great for him to get some play action and space to go deep.

The Pats scheme I don't think maximized his vertically as well with Brady's tendency to dink and dunk down the field with more gadget type players than pounders.

I am actually very happy with the narrative on him. It allowed me to get him very cheap in a couple start ups and he is literally a bench player in a redraft as far as draft position went.
