Trying to acquire Sutton

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trying to acquire Sutton

Postby notweswelker » Thu Sep 13, 2018 4:10 pm

For team in sig.
Sutton owner has expressed interest in Aaron Jones. Would a straight offer be insulting? Or should I be adding a little to an opening offer?

I am pretty high on Aaron Jones, but I obviously prefer Sutton.
Also have some various picks and taxi squad level players not listed.

Certainly within reason for an initial offer if he's already expressed interest, I've seen Aaron Jones traded quite highly in some of my leagues lately for more than I would expect. You probably have to add, but perhaps not and you get some savings.

I'd offer something small on top.

Offer it- but I’d be willing to give up more to get Sutton. He is gonna be elite

You guys really think Sutton is better than Sanders? Do you think he is going to magically take over that team? I'm just curious. I want Sutton too, and I am a Jones owner, and I think when Jones comes back and starts scoring 15-20 a game people will easily trade for him straight up. Just curious and wondering if I made a mistake taking Chubb in my draft before Sutton.

No Chubb is the right pick, and I doubt anyone thinks Sutton will out produce Sanders or DT this year. But this is Dynasty and those guys are getting older and their contracts are winding down, Sutton profiles as a future #1 WR with great upside.

Well not to piggyback off his thread, but in that case I might consider this in my league, where I am sure Sutton's owner will take that trade 100%. Might be worth sitting on for a while. Thanks.

It's definitely something I have been thinking about in my head as well. Like I said I am high on Aaron Jones, I'm not fully confident which is the more valuable piece going forward.
I don't think Sutton "breaks out" this year, but next year Sanders is 32 with a 13,000,000 cap hit, and DT is 31 with a cap hit of 17,500,000. I really doubt they are both here next season, but even if they are both are FA in 2020. That's a pretty clear path right there, and I like his talent.
I do think Jones is the best back in GB, but will he be given that chance? Their running back record has been spotty and they seem to prefer a committee. If I thought Mccarthy/philbin was going to roll with Jones as a bell-cow type I wouldn't even consider this trade, but I don't trust Mccarthy/philbin.

First, this is dynasty. He doesn't have to take over for anyone this year.

Second, I like Jones, but not many RBs average 15-20 points per game.

Aaron Jones is great, but he's not profiling to be a top 10 RB.

Sutton could legitimately get there at his position, he is the far superior upside pick. At which point he is worth a LOT more than Jones will ever be. You could even use him to steal away an RB of far greater value than Jones this offseason, in all likelihood. The hype will be crazy.

With those starting rbs you might want to reconsider.

I agree. Jones doesn't excite me as much as Sutton, even if my RBs are bad (Which yours aren't terrible Spartacus).

Sutton will have spotty performances this year with both old men healthy. He proved in the preseason, camp, and now with those two catches that he has the skill set to be a top 10 wr. You just have to be patient on him to get his opportunity.

That being said. Jones is the best RB in GB. No doubt in my mind. But he seems like he's a short fix and not a top 15 RB in the league.
