It's true he only missed two games, but he was sidelined in an ungodly number of other ones. Soft tissue injuries 24/7. There's an excellent thread on the Vikings section of reddit where they kept track of his injuries over the season. Dude would be good for 2 quarters, 3 quarters, 1 quarter.... but he always seemed to come out of the game eventually.

Yup. He was originally not even on the draft board for John Lynch (GM). You know who was? Jamaal Williams. Shanny gotta stick to coaching and let Lynch stick to drafting.

Appears to be just a muscle strain.

A bit odd that they're saying it's a muscle strain instead of a ligament sprain.

The NFL has a huge problem though. All this practice and preseason time isn't necessary.
I don't know how to respond to this. The NFL doesn't need practice? The NFL needs more practice, lots more. Most teams are not up to full speed until a month into the season. Sure injuries suck. Lots of reasons for it. Mostly, I suspect, are sub optimum athletes pushing their bodies 110%.

McKinnon par for the course. We'll see 3-4 more of these as the year goes on. He's gonna need a masseuse on the sidelines.

I would say Breida would get the most work but who knows? I only own one share of McKinnon, I passed on him in so many startups this offseason. I’ve seen him go repeatedly in the 20ish range overall which is nuts to me but regardless, I hope it’s not anything serious with him. I just felt he was overhyped once he signed in SF.

He's out the rest of the pre season with a separated shoulder, though, so who knows.

Yeah, I was watching when he got injured and I guess Joe Williams could pass him up, Williams looked decent but it’s always hard to tell when both teams have all backups in and guys that won’t even make the final 53. I’m interested in seeing what Williams looks like running with some starters and against a starting defense. It looks like McKinnon avoided serious injury so I doubt that the 49ers sign any FAs so I’m going to be following this situation closely.

As an owner of both Guice and McKinnon, that was a terrifying couple of hours. 😬😬 Glad he’s okay.

Maybe this throws some water on the McKinnon hype supernova. There was no way he was going to be a 20 touch running back, which is how he was being valued.

I’m a McKinnon believer and I don’t think he needs 20 touches/game to be an RB1, but I agree that the hype has gotten out of control. I won the blind bidding sweepstakes on him after Cook went down last year, so I’m already playing with the house’s money in my dynasty league, but I certainly won’t be owning him in any redraft leagues at a 2nd round price tag.

Alfred Morris is in there now. He'll likely take over.

That was fast San Fran! Another camp body to compete for a starting role. Lot of uncertainty for now.
