As a 49er fan who said to stay away from McKinnon for a plethora of reasons, I'm not shocked.

I felt uneasy about this backfield and so I have Breida, Williams, McNihols, and Mostert. Who's gonna take it? No clue. Reports suggest Breida would be the guy unless they sign someone. Hopefully McKinnon isn't out all year.

Please explain this vague accusation.

Any Vikings fan will tell you the following about McKinnon: He gets hurt a lot, doesn't fall forward, gets arm tackled at the line too often...... BUT...... is good in open space and can catch out of the backfield.

Guy always gets hurt, and here he is again. I'm not shocked. I hope he's OK, but all this does is support everything that's been said before.

If it's an ACL, no amount of scouting in the world will have made this something that could've been predicted.

The NFL has a huge problem though. All this practice and preseason time isn't necessary.

I can buy the notion of being worried about McKinnon not holding up on a full workload since he’s never had a sizable one, but I’m not sure how you can call him “injury prone” and say he gets hurt a lot. He’s missed only 2 games during the entirety of his NFL career.

They sure do. It appears to be a precautionary measure, from everything I have read, but after what happened with Guice, who knows?

Not even just Guice, but the list of players who've torn their ACL in training camp and OTA's is long. I'm definitely no doctor, but it seems something is really wrong here with so many players tearing their ACL like it's the new ankle sprain.

"McKinnon told Matt Maiocco he was fine as well." I remember hearing this with Guice, too. Fingers crossed. I think ther have been 15 ACL's, someone was saying in the injury thread I started a while back.

If McKinnon is out significant time what's the pecking order?

Breida
Williams
Mcnichols
Mostert

?

Breida is hurt right now, too, so Williams would be 1st right now.

Gotta imagine that Joe Williams and McNichols could be next up....Williams is probably rostered but I imagine McNichols is floating out there if you have the roster space.
