2018 Rule change vote: Championship playoff format
So previously when we had conferences, it made the playoff format very simple. Three playoff teams in each conference meant the #1 seed had a first round bye while the #2 and #3 seeds played each other. Then the #1 seed in each conference simply played the remaining team in their conference in round 2... and the winner of each conference obviously moved onto the championship.
Now that we've eliminated conferences, I think we have another decision to make. In round 1, the #6 seed will play #3... and the #5 seed will play #4. So who should the #1 seed play in round 2?
This reseeding should also be applied to the 2nd round of the non-championship bracket for picks 5-10, which also has 6 teams.
I think we have 2 options:
Option #1: We "reseed" the remaining teams for the 2nd round so the #1 seed plays the lowest remaining seed (basically this is what the NFL does within each conference).
Option #2: It has been proposed that we allow the #1 seed the CHOOSE their opponent for the 2nd round. I'm potentially going to have to change the seeding for round 2 anyway so this isn't any more work.
Please indicate whether you vote for option 1 or option 2.

Re: 2018 Rule change vote: Championship playoff format
I'm not casting my vote yet - I want to see how this plays out and if I can have any impact later. I just want to say option 2 is fascinating IMO. It will happen in a major sport within the next 20 years. I'm just not sure if I like it more or not. Unlike real sports, it's not like the underdog team can play any more motivated.
And I'll bet you anything I'll be the number 1 seed, pick an opponent, score 110 and still lose, while the team I would've played with option 1 scores 70. That's just the way I roll.

Don't care. After eliminating conference's what does it matter?
