McCoy for Foreman

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

McCoy for Foreman

Postby Edgy68 » Sat May 19, 2018 5:33 am

As I'm typing this, I'm pretty sure I know what I should do. For Dynasty Wasteland, I was offered McCoy and a 19 2nd for my Foreman and 2020 3rd. I will draft Barkley and adding McCoy should give the depth to be a solid contender. But I'm not convinced Shady gets it going like he has in previous seasons. That O-line has taken a hit and there are major question marks at QB, so every team will stack the box. Shady is a bit older than your average bear and has had injury plagued seasons recently.

Is the value here too good to worry about the possibility of getting 5 games from McCoy before he gets hurt and retires?

I think this is McCoy's last year of fantasy production. I'd steer clear of him, personally.

Even if you were rebuilding, that's a quick accept for me. McCoy should be worth quite a bit more to contenders...so, if you are contending, it's a big get for you. If not, you can flip McCoy for more.

Not a fan of either back, but I would take this deal. McCoy is a good flip candidate. I would also go out and get Ivory, guy is practically free, but is the backup to a guy who will almost surely miss time. This option is more if your season is going well and you wanna keep McCoy

I realize McCoy is a one yr rental, but aren't you worried about Foreman's recovery from that Achilles? I loved Foreman coming out and took him in the 2nd, but the recovery history gives a bleak outlook.

McCoy > Foreman.
2nd > 3rd.

Foreman wasn't a guy i coveted before the injury, and an Achilles injury is nothing to scoff at. I would take the sure thing at production and then just send McCoy off during the season if you wanted off. I do not believe in Foreman.

I’m not super sold on Foreman. He showed flashes, but Miller is still there and there is plenty of bad football on his tape. I know McCoy is nearing the end, but this year isn’t it. We’ve been worrying about his QB & OL every year. I know that will catch up with him eventually, but I don’t think that it’ll be this year.

If you think you can contend, then it’s definitely worth it to go get McCoy. Even if he flops, that’s not a deal that will prevent you from competing now or in the future.
Team 1

QB- Carr, Mac
RB- Kamara, Patterson, Swift, Ingram, Foreman, Breida
WR- M Thomas, Metcalf, Keenan, Bourne, AB, Waddle, Green, D-Jax, Landry, St. Brown
TE- Waller, Hockenson
K- Tucker
D- Miami
Start: QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, TE, WR/RB, WR/TE, K, D

Assuming McCoy is a 1 year rental is a mistake because he might just as easily be a 0 year rental. He might already be done.

That said, the value is pretty good here and I agree you could probably flip him to another contender for more than this. Foreman's value doesn't seem like it's much more than a random 2nd in most leagues anyway so getting that on top of McCoy is pretty good value. I was huge on Foreman coming out, but that injury changes things.

I think either way you're taking a risk. I'm not a fan of McCoy any longer because of how that offense is looking to shape up. New QB, no WRs of note (not a KB fan, and Zay is probably not a thing), and a significantly worse O-line than previous years. His status as an RB1 is likely to come to an end quickly rather than gradually.

On the other hand, the Achilles injury really concerns me with Foreman. The history of guys coming back from that is not good. I was a huge fan of Foremans coming out, but that injury gives me a bunch of reservations about him.

If it were me, I would probably take the McCoy side and then find the right time to flip for max value right before the season or in season.

I pulled the trigger, thanks guys. I feel like it rounds out my depth to be competitive this year and I liked the pick bump.

McCoy >> Foreman

This isn't anywhere close.

All indications are he’s crushing rehab. In addition, Houston doesn’t appear worried as they added no one to their backfield. By mid season this is Foremans backfield imo.
