Postby playa_hata » Thu May 17, 2018 7:43 pm

12 team ppr I ask because i just traded Marqise Lee and 19 3rd for Pettis and 19 2nd and im looking to obtain Gallup. The owner said no to lee and a 3rd for gallup str8 up so i made the other deal thinking i could get gallup for pettis and 19 2nd( essentially lee and 19 3rd)

I think Pettis is the most underrated guy in this draft. When I see his tape I see a complete WR and he was drafted to maybe the most desirable landing spot in the league (at worst 2nd to Green Bay).

If Sutton had been drafted to SF in the early 2nd he would be a top 5 rookie pick and honestly I think Pettis will be a better pro than Sutton.

I'm not sold that Gallup is just going to step into the Cowboys offense and become Dez Bryant 2.0. I'm also not sold on Dak being all that good of a QB. Give me Pettis

Gallup.

Pettis has a known issue with play-strength, and seemingly confirming this already, he was reportedly reluctant going over the middle in rookie-camp. And the practices aren't even full-contact. Considering Pettis profiles for the slot, that ain't good.

I'm pessimistic that Pettis can be a legitimate fantasy difference-maker in leagues that don't count punt/kick returner stats. His own Huskies coach, while praising him, also conceded he can only see him playing in the slot in the pros because he doesn't expect him to be able to beat press-man coverage.

And speaking of Pettis as a special-teams weapon, bear in mind that facet of his game -- which isn't rewarded in most fantasy formats, ofc -- is likely the real reason why he was picked ahead of other WR options like Gallup and Washington.

I know Waldman likes Pettis a lot, and I respect Waldman a lot, but I just don't see it myself. There are good things about Pettis' game, but soft football players don't make it in the NFL. If he lives in the gym and adds ten pounds of muscle, and develops more courage going over the middle, I'll reevaluate. For now, I'm not even confident he can win the slot job over Trent Taylor, and I can't see him being Garcon's heir apparent on the boundary unless his play-strength dramatically improves.

I wouldn't write off Hurns and Beasley. I think Gallup has to usurp Williams. Shouldn't be too difficult for him unless Gallup's fans (which are many, and include PFF) are wildly wrong about him.

There's a ton of great round 2 rookie WR value, top to bottom. They all look about the same to me.

Start 12: 1QB 1SFLX 2RB 4WR 2TE 2FLX | 30 Active Roster, unlim Taxi, 3 IR/Out (+) | est. '21 | playoffs '21, '22

QB - J Allen, T Lawrence ...
RB - A Ekeler, S Barkley, J Cook, I Pacheco ...
WR - AJ Brown, C Ridley, G Pickens, C Sutton ...

If Pettis is already afraid to go over the middle in non contact what will he be like when he gets smacked around the field by defensive stalwarts?

Based on that news alone I'd go Gallup. The plus is that Gallups game tape is sick. Dude has skillz and Williams is an underacheiver who he should have no trouble passing.

Where are people finding the reports about Pettis over the middle at 9ers camp?

I'd hang onto Pettis. I think Gallup's value is inflated because he landed in Dallas and the lack of competition, but that still doesn't make him better. And as mentioned above, Pettis' situation is pretty good as well.

Plenty of team beat-reporters don't really know what they're talking about, though. So bear that in mind before you take this as a gospel. Still... not good.
