I’d love to know how many of the people in this thread insisting that Julio will still be elite for 3-4 more years also believe that Dez is washed up and barely worth a late 2nd. It’d be an interesting Venn diagram. Almost makes me wish Coogan was still around with his creepy spreadsheet on all the posters here. (Key word: almost.)
The two are very different WRs and have had careers with vastly different trajectories.
Very different? Julio is 6’3”. Dez is 6’2”. Both weigh 220 lbs. Both were 1st round picks. Dez is three months older.
Julio’s career stats:
585/9,054/43 on 925 targets. 1,748.4 PPR points.
Dez’s career stats:
531/7,459/73 on 909 targets. 1,714.9 PPR points.
They’re both averaging 1.89 points per target on their careers. Obviously, Dez has been more reliant on TDs and Julio has been more reliant on yards, but in terms of physical stature, efficiency and raw fantasy production, they’re nearly identical.
Ironically, the starkest difference between the two is the area you put the least stock in: athletic measurables. Julio has better speed, burst and agility scores and has a larger catch radius. But that doesn’t matter after you’ve played a couple years in the league, let alone seven or eight, right?
I’m not naive enough to believe that Dez should carry the same dynasty value as Julio at this point. Fantasy value is, was and always will be heavily dependent on what a player has done for you lately, and Dez hasn’t done a whole hell of a lot for me in the two and a half years that I’ve owned him. I just think the perceived value gap between them is a lot wider than it should be.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties
