Rookie QB Rankings
Re: Rookie QB Rankings
If above did happen you're going to see a lot of great value picks in the late 1st to even mid 2nd probably. Which would be kinda crazy.
Re: Rookie QB Rankings
Just posted this in another thread before discovering this. My rankings are:
Rosen/Darnold
Mayfield
Jackson
Allen/Rudolph

Re: Rookie QB Rankings
Jackson's accuracy is fine. All these negative comments are just the same narrative coming from a league that's never been accepting of black quarterbacks (Yeah, I caught the interview jab bud...). The kids 6'2 and Polian talking about he's too short to play qb? It's actually laughable. He's better than Vick was (hell Vick has even come out and said it) and he is coming into the league at a time when the Jeff Fischer's of the world are being replaced with fresh young minds who can develop this kind of talent and formulate schemes to maximize its success. I think his ceiling (given the right situation) is a Wilson/Vick hybrid and that's pretty scary.pierson242 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2018 8:06 pmAgain there’s more to football than numbers on paper. The reports that are already headlined "Jackson a better fit at WR" is what worries me. Im not doubting his athleticism but ive never thought it would translate well to the NFL. Braxton Miller, RG3, etc
They also shared the same completion %, and ill agree Jackson had more yards and TDs but he also had nearly 150 more pass attempts. Numbers are not everything.
Also your comparing 2017. In 2016 Allen had nearly identical yards and TDs as Jackson, he has a bad 2017, but the Talent is still there.
Jackson

*2017 Louisville ACC JR QB 13 254 430 59.1 3660 8.5 8.7 27 10 146.6
Allen

Jackson is clearly the better passer, and he improved every single year as a passer, while Allen regressed in 2017. Allen has a somewhat high ceiling, but it isn't anywhere close to Jackson's ceiling.
arguments that he should switch to wr are laughable.

Re: Rookie QB Rankings
No major surprises at the combine so far, everyone with bearable hand size and Mayfield still taller than 6'.
Odd that Darnold didn't decide to throw but don't think that moves the needle for me much.
If I'm drafting today:
Rosen/Darnold/Mayfield
Jackson
Allen

Mayfield is starting to scare me - attitude wise, reminds me of guys like Manziel & Leaf.

So for those that follow/haven't been blocked by Cian Fahey on twitter....he stated that Mason Rudolph is the best QB prospect since Mariota.

Re: Rookie QB Rankings
I think Darnold is the best pure QB out of the bunch, but I can't help but think of the lack of success USC QB's have... I know it may just be a correlation, but it's hard to ignore.
Also, I feel like Jackson is one of the most polarizing picks at QB in a long time. Very few people have him rated in the middle, most have him up near the top, or near the bottom. His fundamentals are questionable to me, and against bigger and faster defenders I wonder how he'll perform if in a situation that has a bad O-line that doesn't give him time to read defenses and make calculated throws.
Personally, I have exactly the same rankings as you do, pending landing spot of course.

Re: Rookie QB Rankings
How would you rank landing spots for these QBs?
So far, I'm thinking:
Good on Paper: Browns (Good OL, Decent Weapons, Crap HC/Owner), Giants (OL is atrocious but great weapons)
Bad on Paper: Bills (Real bad WR corps), Dolphins (Feels like the sparkles of Adam Gase are wearing off big time)
On the Fence on Paper: Jets?, Broncos? Cardinals?
Wonder if a team like Baltimore or Cincy wind up taking a QB unexpectedly? It'd probably be more believable that they'd take a Mason Rudolph type.

Re: Rookie QB Rankings
I disagree with Giants being good on paper. "Great weapons" is overstated as well, yes; we all know about OBJ. Beyond that - there isn't elite options. I think the Browns are actually the best landing spot for a QB (never thought I would say that).Servo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 03, 2018 8:50 am How would you rank landing spots for these QBs?

The other 5 teams you mentioned all seem bad on paper to me - nothing about the coaching staffs or teams around them seem great to me.
I don't see Baltimore or Cincy getting a QB.
Other teams that I think could get a QB in the first couple rounds which intrigue me would be the Patriots, Saints & Steelers.
Re: Rookie QB Rankings
Well, I still think I'd take OBJ, Shepard, Engram over Benjamin/Zay/Clay or Robby/Kearse/Walford or Stills/Parker/AJ Derby but I get what you're saying.Phaded wrote: ↑Tue Apr 03, 2018 7:46 pm I disagree with Giants being good on paper. Re: Rookie QB Rankings
I kind of don't. I don't know how you could discount Shephard coming off a rookie and an injured year, and Engram coming off a historic and unprecedented rookie breakout year, albeit all the targets were his. I think you give any of the big 5 QBs (really) a chance while these guys develop for a year or two (even more), with the possibility of the NYG drafting a RB high, and adding to a defense, WHILE learning under Eli, and it's a perfect recipe. And the only thing I personally like about the Giants is that they beat the Patriots.Servo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 03, 2018 8:04 pmWell, I still think I'd take OBJ, Shepard, Engram over Benjamin/Zay/Clay or Robby/Kearse/Walford or Stills/Parker/AJ Derby but I get what you're saying.Phaded wrote: ↑Tue Apr 03, 2018 7:46 pm I disagree with Giants being good on paper. I like the Browns (agreed in never did I think that statement would come out of my mouth) too, just not as much as the NYG.
