1.10 for 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

1.10 for 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5

Postby dmac37 » Fri Feb 23, 2018 8:29 pm

My first thought was to reject moving my 1.10 for all these other picks. How large is the drop from 1.10 to 2.5 this year and is this rookie class deep enough to use all these picks? I have not studied the rookie draft at all yet.

I also have the 3.2, 4.10, and 5.10, which would give me:

2.5, 3.2, 3.5, 4.5, 4.10, 5.5, 5.10

My lineup is stacked and young but not real deep. I would want to turn around and try to consolidate all these picks for 2-3 higher picks.

1) I like the trade on value, but I don't think that you have enough dead roster spots to use them all. So, one vote for keeping 1.10.

2) "I would want to turn around and try to consolidate all these picks for 2-3 higher picks." Huh?? You're going to trade 1.10 for a bunch of lower picks in order to try to trade a bunch of lower picks to get a higher pick... like 1.10?? Another vote for keeping 1.10.

Again, by value, I like it. But, it accomplishes nothing for your team nor for your goals this off-season.

You seem to see the same thing that intrigues me, the value of the picks but history tells me best player/highest pick usually wins out. Each year there seems to be a few tier drops. This year it seems like it may be top 5-7 top heavy then still a lot of good options but not a lot of separation for the next 10 picks or so??

2) My point with this is right now my 2 highest picks are 1.10 and 3.2. With all the picks I would have it seems possible to trade up to around the 1.10 range +/- plus land a much better pick than the 3.2??

the 1.10 without a doubt...the 3.5 etc is not enough to bridge the gap...if you want to trade down, you will get way more value when that pick is on the clock

Unless the rest of the league are a bunch of suckers that put value on picks in the 3rd round and beyond I don't think this is likely.

Tis is a horrible trade for you. Think about it...
You're dropping 7 spots and the best additional asset you get in return for doing that is the 3.5?

I'd want two seconds in the deal this year or a future 1st (maybe a 2020) and this year's 2nd in return.
Or the 2nd and a guy you really like on the roster that has high second value in your mind.

You have to get a good asset to make up for the difference, certainly something better than the 3.5. Think big picture and target a future 1st plus rather than a bunch of loose change the other owner found under the cushions of his ratty sofa.
