Swap Quarterbacks

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Swap Quarterbacks

Postby shyatt60 » Mon Nov 06, 2017 8:09 pm

I've been offered Garoppolo and a 5th pick for Trubisky and my 3rd pick. I'm considering it, but I'm not sure I see inculding the picks? Am I missing something?

As a fellow 49er fan....... yeah man I'd do that. I believe in Garoppolo big time.

Both guys are total unkowns.

Much more invested into Trubisky.

Both teams have a severe lack of weapons.

Both organizations have kinda turned into dumpster fires the past few years.

The only thing Jimmy G has going for him is Shanny, which SHOULD be a big deal but it's not enough for me.

I'll take Trubisky and the better pick.

Yea neither has shown much and both offenses are horrendous. I would keep trubisky since he was a 1st rd pick and hold off. He showed a lot of potential with accuracy and pocket presence in the preseason.

Trubisky is better than Garropolo. Better pick to boot.

Tough to say who's better. Take the guy you like more. The picks are both pretty worthless, so if you prefer Jimmy, it's not that big of a deal losing a 3rd.

I’d take it but I’m a believer in Garropolo and not at all in Trubisky.

More how well he played in his limited time with the Pats and how they tried their best to keep him. Offense didn’t miss a beat with him in there. Very limited sample size I know.

Drawing any conclusions from 2 games is dangerous business. Remember how bullish everyone was on Osweiler who was productive in Denver and the move to Houston was supposed to be a great one? I don't think Garoppolo is going to faceplant quite so badly, but I'd be cautious drawing any conclusions about his future from a time in a different offense.

By contrast, everything I've seen from Trubisky from the pre-season into the regular season has shown he has the poise, arm, and ability to be successful in the NFL. Not at all surprising given he showed all of those same skills in college. He's in a garbage offense - so if you want to be critical based on situation, go ahead - based on skill set, no way. Even with what we've seen from Watson, it would not surprise me at all if over the long term Trubisky still shows himself to be the #1 QB from this class.

Like I said a lot of it was how highly the Pats thought of him to not trade him until it became apparent they would not be able to sign him. Their evaluation of him carries some weight. I agree with we shouldn’t put too much weight in this small sample size but Osweiler was never great in Denver.

Trubisky has been terrible so far in the regular season and most of the preseason time was against players fighting to make the team. He had one good season in college in a pass friendly offense but failed to beat out Marquise Williams his first two years. I agree he’s in a terrible offense and has a decent skill set but elite by no means.

I think the trade is even without the picks. I know it's just a third, but don't just throw it in.

QB - J. Hurts, M. Stafford, K. Cousins

WR - D. Adams, DK Metcalf, A. Cooper, C. Ridley, R. Anderson, C. Davis, J. Jones
TE - M. Andrews, G. Kittle, M. Cox
