The Real Zay Jones thread..

Figured we had plenty "Is it time to worry about...X player edition" threads, so I went with a different, equally alarmist thread title.

But what is the deal with Zay Jones? He has looked absolutely terrible. Seems to have issues separating, completely not on the same page as Taylor most of the time, a lot of bad drops, and an absolutely ugly catch ratio on his targets so far (I'll be the first to suggest catch ratio is often overblown, but when someone has only caught 7 of 32 targets for 83 yards in nearly half a season yikes!).

Did the Bills scouts and the entire fantasy community get fooled by him and his meteoric rise in the pre-draft process when he seemed to do everything right, combine included? ECU runs a stat machine of an offense so in no way was I expecting him to take the league by storm, but he just looks lost out there. The most concerning aspect of his rookie year has been the fact his hands were one of, if not his most often lauded strength coming into the NFL, and even there he's been terrible.

Personally I think he's a hold as there's no way you can even get anything of any sort of value for him with how terrible his rookie start has been, but curious of others thoughts?

Let's not go lumping everyone into one opinion...many of us barely considered drafting him at all. I know he wasn't on my radar...in any round...

Those who drafted him are HOPING he can have as productive of a start to his career as Robert Woods... And I'm being sincere with that comment. At this point, we're just hoping this isn't Tajae Sharpe 2.0

I think its still a little early to write him off, but he was going early 2nd in a few of my drafts. The Bills offense puts up points surprisingly, albeit being run-based and an oopportunistic, spread it to whomever passing attack. I saw a stat yesterday where they had the longest steak of scoring 20+ pts at home, maybe it was higher. Zay did get the most snaps of any receiver yesterday for them, but I know I know. Thats akin to being the biggest baller in Walmart to some extent.

He was a college compiler thanks to his offense. Wildly over drafted in both NFL and rookie drafts.

Nice route on his td. Maybe he figures some things out with Benjamin and of course, time. Still thought he was over drafted in both NFL and fantasy, but last couple of weeks he has shown some improvement.

Played really well tonight. That trip where he hyper extended his knee was awful. Beat the db and likely was headed for a td. Changed the entire game for us

Still say he will have an Eric Decker'esque career. It was too much, too soon on a bad offense and he has been horrible adjusting to the NFL. He will get settled in, though it may take a year. Melvin Gordon was trash his first year and everyone thought that they knew he busted, oops.

Different situation and position but I would say the jury is still out. Zay will be a good WR2. Needs a true #1 on his team, to take off heat. Also, Buffalo isn't the best fit for him (or anyone really).

Anyone rolling Zay out this week in a favorable matchup vs the Colts?
He is also the clear WR1 with all the injuries at the position there, and was targeted frequently, before this WR1 advancement.
I'm starting Zay ahead of a questionable Robert Woods, and Rashard Mathews, and a healthy Martavis Bryant.

thats a fine move. i dont think you will get a response of anyone confidently starting him and expecting a good output but i think a 5-7 catch 50-75 yard and a td day is not something crazy to hope for

I like Zay, he's the one guy on my team from my HOME team, but I won't be starting him in week 15, after the bye.

I need him to develop a little more, and get some more confidence, so I am definitely rooting for him. I would rather start Rishard Matthews, for my situation. However, I'm hoping I can roll out Jordy week 15 pending QB situation...
