Trade for Mixon or stay the course?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade for Mixon or stay the course?

Postby NicksDynastyAcct » Tue Oct 31, 2017 7:18 pm

Hello!

Recently our Mixon owner has abandoned the season due to other injuries and would be willing to trade him. I know this isn't common with Mixon's youth, but he also has Cook, Fournette and Henry for the future. I have inquired and been trying to think of thoughts since I got was turned down on my offer of Watkins for him. Looking at my signature, should I make a move for Mixon (if so, what would be a fair offering) or stay the course (I am 5-3, tied for second place and leading the league in points scored.)

Thank you for your help!

How does a team get Cook, Dixon, and Fournette??

In my league Mixon was a top 3 pick. It would take a 1st to get him. Or looking at your team....M. Thomas. Well that would be my price tag.

This latest rookie draft came after our first season and I am guilty of moving my first in a stupid trade (and so are a few others) and this user was able to collect on them. Hmm.. Mike Thomas, seems steep going from a perspective of value but I am in need of a running back in order to make a run. That'd be something I'd have to mull over.

I wouldn't trade Thomas for him either. In looking at your time I felt that was the only guy I could find. Watkins isn't enough...Gurley, Cooper, Hopkins also too much. Thomas probably is too, but for me he has been disappointing this year.

Unless you can get him for a draft pick you are going to have to give up a pretty big asset to land him. I'd put the ball in his court, tell him you want Mixon, what will it take to land him. Then go from there.

I wouldn't move any of your top 3 WRs and I doubt he's interested in RBs. I'd see what pick I'd have to add to Watkins to get it done.

Do yourself a favor and trade Cooper for Fournette. I wouldn't pay too much for Mixon.

You trading for Mixon is tough because you either have guys that are worth a lot more than Mixon or a lot less. Outside of Watkins, there is nothing that really works straight up. So you will likely have to trade a guy like Cooper for Mixon +, which I don't recommend doing right now

I'm not a huge fan of Watkins, so I might be in the minority here, but With A Collins coming off a solid week I'd maybe try offering Watkins/ Collins for Mixon

I tried this, he said he doesn't know and jokingly suggested Hopkins. This has been a hard assessment for me thus far due to the assets he would want being either too much or not enough. To address one of the other posts, I had offered Cooper for Fournette but he said it would take quite a bit more than Cooper to get Fournette and I don't have much interest in paying more than Cooper for him.

I think I might just have to swallow that if he won't take Collins and Watkins I might have to give up the search and try another owner or ride out this year and come back stronger hopefully next year with Carson returning and another year of development under my players. If I were to approach other owners with an offer of Cooper in a 1:1 scenario what RBs could I reasonably ask for? I have been turned down for Freeman and I expect to be turned down for Gordon as well. Any thoughts on other players I could attempt to acquire?

I'm still trying to understand where guys like Watkins have anywhere near the dynasty value of Mixon. That offer would get laughed at in my league. Even Cooper for Mixon is questionable at this point. In a vacuum I'd take Mixon. Cooper's had 3 good games in 2 years. His great game 2 weeks ago made people go crazy for him again but as predicted he went right back to WR3/WR4 status which is what he's been for a while now. So to the OP....I'd give up Cooper in a heart beat for Mixon or Watkins+for him. You will reap more benefits next year but wont lose anything this year.

Thanks for the advice, I think I’ll put Cooper out there to shop for a RB. What are other backs I could realistically target straight up for Cooper?
