It’s a damn shame, that’s what it is. I swear the Vikings are cursed.

As far as I can find, no. I found 3 shoulder surgeries (1 high school, 2 college), and a "hamstring" injury in '15 that may have cost him a couple games tops.

It's a torn ACL.
I'd be running to buy Cook if you can. It will work even better if the owner is a contender.
The "typical" ACL tear is so routine now a days in terms of injury, surgery, rehab that I really have no worries about him.
So many guys have had the injury, even at RB, and come back 100% themselves or even stronger than before.
He got injured early enough in the year now that I think he should be full go week 1 2018.

Not the best time to buy this soon after the injury, his value will decline at least until December as people forget his success. Even moreso if either Latavius or McKinnon play well.

I think Jerick McKinnon is the long-term value here, though Latavius got the carries and will get the most bump in ADP.

Whatever happened to Jonathan Williams, I was surprised when the Bills cut him after TC.
Maybe the Vikes go shopping on the street, or try and make a trade for McFadden who has been a healthy scratch in Dallas the past few weeks.
Just throwing that out, those are free options now, but if the Vikes go that route they would be valuable before the ink dried on the contract.

I'd like to hear a medical expert's take on 'nearly complete' ACL tears. ACL recovery has drastically improved in this era, but is that as true for full tears?

I've seen written that a complete tear can be better than a partial for recovery's sake.

Yeah my 50 Year old uncle had a super clean tear when he was skiing, about November and was skiing in October of the next year (lighter than normal at first but he is perfectly fine now), but he took really good care of himself.

Yeah, he was reaching for his knee before he even hit the ground. Not good.
Yeah he dropped the ball to grab his knee...that is never a good sign. I will wish him a speedy recovery and try to fill that hole in my lineup

For a full tear they just make you a new ACL out of tendons taken from the hamstring or another part of the knee, usually. Done right it should be stronger than the original.
