Mike Williams for Kareem Hunt?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Which do you prefer?

Mike Williams for Kareem Hunt?

Postby Nesus » Wed Aug 30, 2017 5:50 pm

Is it worthwhile to trade my Mike Williams for Kareem Hunt?

All I need is some help at rb to contend. I also realize I'm selling low and buying high

Thanks guys.

I wouldn't be against it. In most recent drafts Hunt is going ahead of Williams. If you feel he is going to be a solid long-term player and not just a volume made RB with Ware MIA then pull the trigger.

Who would you have taken two weeks ago before Ware got hurt?

Well, Mike Williams hasn't gotten any worse since and Hunt hasn't gotten any better. Dynasty value should still be the same.

Haha I'd like to think dynasty valuation is a bit more nuanced than that

That's like saying that Juju Smith-Schuster should be the 1.02 because that's where I had him ranked in this class in 2015. Circumstances change. Preseason games occur. Players break their backs, players become the starting rb on their team.

Like you said, if you need a running back now to contend then I would definitely consider the trade. If you have the time to wait though, I do believe Williams is the more talented player and will have the better career. Not to mention the higher shelf life for wide receiver.

I'm not high on either of them, but I think Hunt offers better short-term value for both immediate production and the potential to flip him for a profit. Unless you're a hardcore Mike Williams truther and/or in a serious rebuild situation, I think you have to make this trade.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

QB: Lawrence $5/3, Richardson $5/5, Minshew $1/0, Jones $1/0, Heinicke $1/0, Tyrod $1/0

WR: Nuk $78/1, MT $25/1, M. Williams $1/0, JSN $21/5, Reed $4/5, Rice $4/5, M. Wilson $2/5

Personally I'm Keeping Williams

If you think all you need to make a run is Hunt then make the deal, if you win due to this move it makes it all worth it. Williams won't be much this year but he will have a good future, I have him ahead of Davis in this Class.

Exactly this. In 2015 you could have the same argument that Kevin White didn't get any worse and David Johnson didn't get any better. May be an extreme example but there is a high likelihood that Kareem Hunt will be worth far more than Mike Williams after this season ends.

You guys are using extreme examples that are not very relevant. I'll try to explain my logic and keep it simple. You either thought Hunt was good enough to take over the starting job over an average RB in Ware, or you thought he wasn't. That shouldn't have changed after Ware's injury. I ranked him based on the assumption that he would take over, so his ranking doesn't change for me at all. Also, I usually rank players prior to the NFL draft based on their skills/talents and I very rarely move them based on where they get picked or their situation.

In the case of Juju, he didn't meet expectations and actually took a step back last year from 2015, so you can argue he did get worse. Also, many other players got better and passed him in my (and everyone else's) rankings. Same with White and DJ. White hasn't even been able to stay on the field, and when he has, he's looked terrible. Obviously no one knew DJ was going to be this good, so in everyone's eyes, he did get better. So I'm just not understanding those two arguments.
