how did I do, I think really well.

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

how did I do, I think really well.

Postby frisco86 » Sun Aug 27, 2017 10:49 am

My needs in my opinion were RB's and that is how I started. Here are my first 5 picks, which I think was good.

1.05 Mixon
1.07 Beast - M Lynch
2.05 J Ross
3.05 Ju Ju
4.05 E Engram
QB: Mayfield, Bridgewater, Fitzpatrick
RB:David Johnson, Mixon, Chubb, James Robinson, Mattison, K Vaughn
WR: AJG, K Allen, D Adams, JuJu, C Godwin, D Slayton, S Miller
TE: Engram, Kittle
K: Succup
Def.: Arizona

Champions 2006 and 2018. Second a few times in between, again in 2019.

No PPR. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (RB,WR,TE) 1K 1 1 Def
Drop 7 ea yr. 20 player roster with up to 2 IR

Evan Engram at 4.05 makes me question the seriousness of the league. That's beyond absurd. Juju and Ross were good values too, but c'mon.

Well lets see, Mixon fell to you at 1.05-nice.
I don't like the beast mode pick at 1.07, I would have taken Williams there.
Maybe good value at 2.05 but if Foreman was there I would have taken him.
JuJu at 3.05 is another good value so can't fault you there.
Engram at 4.05, what?

Beast mode was certainly for a win now. I felt I only had one top RB in DJ and Mixon will start off splitting time, Perkins still an unknown, Ware - well we all saw what happened so RB was a priority. I felt I was very good at WR. Foreman was available and could have gone there as he went 2.09. Rookie TE's did not move quickly. OJ 2.02, Engram was next at 4.05 and Njoku at 4.06. Rudolph went 3.07, Ertz 3.08.

Reaches first 3 rounds
1.12 McFadden but owner has Zeke and is defending champ, so can understand the pick. 1.04 K Hunt - taken before my pick which I got Mixon, who may end up better than Fournette, but I would still take Fournette at this point 1.09 C Kupp - early, but owner said he just really loved him. Okay. He has looked good, but I think still very early.
2.03 J Conner -
3.01 Chris Hogan - with Edelman going down, his value did bump up, but really I think still early. Owner did take Fournette and then Z Jones at 2.01 who I really liked

Wait, what? Rudolph and Ertz went 3.07 and 3.08? In what world...? Unless there is some serious deflation of TE points that you haven't alluded too yet, I would say your league SERIOUSLY undervalues TEs.

We've beaten the Lynch house to death but that's a terrible pick. Made up for it with the JuJu and Engram picks (both better options than Lynch)

skip: I think I have a team to compete this year. Thus after getting Mixon, I went with a player that will likely get 200+ touches and be starting for me...so terrible might jusssstttt be a tad of an overstatement. If he helps propel me to playoffs where anything can happen then I will consider a draft pick well spent. JuJu needs to get on the field...will be tough. Hopefully he does. We have 20 players drop 7 each yr, so invariably someone you drafted in prior year is getting cut.

Don't like the Lynch pick at all and the Ross pick was fine. But the rest of the picks look like they were huge steals where you got them.

finally, my cook is going ahead of mixon ;)

it definitely appears that you had to take lynch at that spot if you wanted him (as others have stated, i would not have ...but he went late first round of one of my rookie drafts as well)

I understand wanting win-now produciton at RB, but was Kareem Hunt available at 1.07? Probably not the consensus 1.07 but that gives you a young guy in the KC rushing offense who you should have known would be at least the day 1 starter (now Ware is out the entire year). Plus he'll hold dynasty value barring a cataclysmic flop.

jcc, no Hunt went 4 thus allowing Mixon to slip to me. Then Davis at 6... Went LF, CMC, Cook, Hunt, Mixon, Davis...I actually thought going into the draft I would get Cook and Hunt.

The 1.07 pick is a complete waste if you use it on a redraft/win now player. I owned Lynch for years and was a fan. In 2015 he was falling apart with injuries and was ineffective even when healthy. Expecting him to remain healthy now 2 years older and the wrong side of 30 is a major gamble. You probably could have grabbed Hunt there who will be better short and long term.

I'm just here to echo the OP's 3rd or 4th time saying Hunt was drafted at 1.04 and was not available at 1.07. Lol!

Don't sweat the criticism for taking Lynch. Is it a risk? Sure, but so are most of the dang rooks in the draft. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do if you believe you're a contender.

Undrafted players emerge every season. You will have other opportunities to stash young players.
Good luck!

No we won't stop. I was under the impression this was a forum where ALL dynasty players could come to communicate, learn and get better. Someone in here probably helped you once or twice, so don't be so smug to someone who's just looking for advice too.
