Hyde vs Miller

Postby snaps06 » Wed Aug 09, 2017 9:53 am

I've been offered Lamar Miller for Carlos Hyde straight up for team 1 in my sig. I'm not high on Miller, and Shanahan being in SF intrigues me when it comes to Hyde. I'm wondering if this move improves my team, or if it's simply a sideways move that is over-tinkering.

Thoughts?

Miller side for me. Can't things only improve after the disaster that was a Brock Osweiler lead offense?

Miller. Better team and Hyde has major durability questions.

It is Miller for me simply based on volume and better injury history. Bill O'brien runs the ball more than most teams in the league and I look for that to continue with the current QB situation and a top defense.

I think Hyde is the more talented back but is certainly riskier... durability concerns and questions about his role in this offense. Miller is the safer bet, Hyde has the lower floor but a much higher ceiling if he stays healthy and clicks with shanahan. I'm a gambler so I'd consider rolling the dice if you could get a pick thrown in or something.

This is basically how I've been looking at it. I think Miller's floor is higher and he's proven to be pretty durable. It's nice to see this being reinforced in most of the comments.

I'd be A LOT more worried about Foreman than I would be about Joe Williams.

I've pondered this as well. Foreman is much more talented than Williams. Then that got me to thinking... Back when Miller was in Miami and was in a RBBC, he actually put up better overall numbers than he did last year. So, in a weird way, I wonder if having a legit RB to help Miller carry the load will actually make him more productive? I mean check this out:

2014: 216 carries, 1099 yards, 38 catches, 275 yards (1374 total yards), and 9 total TDs.

2015: 194 carries, 872 yards, 47 catches, 397 yards (1269 total yards), and 10 total TDs.

2016: 268 carries, 1073 yards, 31 catches, 188 yards (1261 total yards), and 6 total TDs.

I know a lot of 2016 can be attributed to Brock and his inability to pass the ball and open up the run game, but I also wonder if a better QB plus being in a RBBC will actually put Miller back into top-10 standard points?

I'm just trying to talk out loud as I make my decision. I have until tomorrow to decide. Thanks to everyone that has helped!
