Vick in trouble again?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Vick in trouble again?

Postby Steelersfan » Tue Jun 29, 2010 8:26 pm

A partner and spokesman for the restaurant that hosted Michael Vick's birthday party last week says he has video of Vick and "his entourage" driving away from the scene three minutes before gunshots were fired.

"I'm not saying that Michael Vick did the shooting," Allen Fabija said. "But he did not leave [long] before" the shooting. Vick and his attorney have insisted that he left at least 10 minutes and possibly as much as 30 minutes before the incident. The alleged video evidence raises questions about Vick's accountability.

Sources tell Game 102.1 in Virginia Beach that former Dolphins WR Marcus Vick was involved in the shooting that injured his and Michael Vick's cousin, Quanis Phillips, last Thursday night.

The extent of Marcus' involvement is unknown, but we can't say we'd be the least bit surprised if he played a major role considering his track record. The last Rotoworld post done on Marcus, in August of 2009, was from a report that he'd been sentenced to 20 days in jail for a probation violation stemming from eluding police. He's been in trouble with the law several times dating back to Virginia Tech. Marcus also has a history of gun-related arrests.

Haha no. I dont care about Marcus Vick! But people(especially some of the NFL Network guys.. aka Brian Baldinger) need to cut the crap that it was nothing but "poor judgement all the way around"... he was celebrating his birthday.. NOTHING wrong with it(Baldinger was saying that..that it was a mistake celebrating his birthday back home)!!! Michael Vick is not responsible what other people are doing!

Virginia Beach Police have changed their stance, refusing to put a title on Michael Vick's role in the shooting that occurred at his 30th birthday party.

Police originally said that Vick was "not a person of interest." That led some folks to believe that he wouldn't face any discipline from the league. However, the fact that he apparently lied about when he left the party and more witness evidence means that the police may want to talk to Vick soon. They aren't calling him a suspect, a person of interest or a witness. But with Vick's federal probation officer now investigating as well, this is headed down a very bad road for Vick.

One of the theories making the rounds regarding the events culminating in the shooting of former Bad Newz Kennels co-owner Quanis Phillips suggests that Phillips tried to gain access to the party, that he was turned away, and that a brouhaha ensued.

This theory, if accurate, would tend to dispel the notion that Eagles quarterback Mike Vick was "associating" with a convicted felon at his 30th birthday party. Instead, these facts would suggest that Phillips tried unsuccessfully to "associate" with Vick.

One of the owners of the restaurant/nightclub where the party occurred appeared on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philly to talk about the situation. And Allen Fabijan explained that there were no incidents at the club that evening, and that Phillips was not escorted out of the establishment.

"We don't have any reflection of that on video," Fabijan said, pointing out later that 16 surveillance cameras have been installed on the premises.

Fabijan also reiterated that shots rang out at 2:09 a.m. ET, only two minutes after Vick's vehicle pulled away from the club. The shots came from the same direction in which Vick's vehicle was headed.

Its obvious here that Vick or his brother, or anyone involved with him never decided to behave themselves or clean up their image, and Vick is one who definitely needed to do so. Whether or not Vick is charged here, he's already put himself in another bad situation with bad people, from our perspective as fantasy owners, he's pretty irrelevant anyway.

The more news that's coming out the more I agree with you Shawn. There's still some that are holding on to Vick thinking he will become fantasy relevant again but I just don't see it happening...

In Michael Vick's first public comments since his cousin, Quanis Phillips, was shot at his birthday party last week, Vick denied involvement in the crime.

"I had nothing to do with the incident," Vick said Thursday. Vick has not yet touched on whether he associated with Phillips, a convicted felon with whom association would be a violation of Vick's probation. Nothing in the matter will be close to settled until the shooter comes forward and gives his account of the events. Meanwhile, Vick continues to twist in the wind.

Virginia Beach Police announced Tuesday that Michael Vick is not a suspect in the shooting of Quanis Phillips at Vick's 30th birthday party.

Police say they know who shot Phillips, but they've yet to charge the suspect because the victim and witnesses remain uncooperative. There are no other suspects, and the investigation is considered closed at this time. With Vick being cleared of suspicion, the Eagles are unlikely to take action barring a surprise plot twist.
