Wheaton have a future?

Postby JoeMama89 » Thu Oct 17, 2013 5:07 am

Does Wheaton have a chance to see the field regularly in Pitt?
When does it happen?

He had a huge jump in snaps right before he was injured. I don't see why that wouldn't continue once he comes back which shouldn't be too much longer (maybe 2 weeks or so?). It was a pinky finger injury so nothing to worry about long term. I think with a more healthy steelers offense he has the chance to produce WR3/4 numbers to end this year and potentially be a solid WR2 for next year and his career

I'm a supporter of Wheaton. I like what I see when he's in there. He at minimum should start getting WR3 on the Steelers the back half of this year, and then hopefully Sanders leaves or he overtakes him next season. I never view him as a WR1, but i like him as a WR3 with potential as WR2 if he hits his ceiling.

You've got to give it time. I'm still just as high on Wheaton as before the draft, now is actually a great time to buy. He's gonna pass Cotchery soon and Emanuel Sanders leaves next year. His value is slowly going to climb, and I doubt the Steelers have the luxury to take a 1st round wr with how old their defense is. You're not starting him this year anyway because of where that offense is but I'm expecting big things in year two.
