Kaepernick or Wilson

Postby burnonedown » Fri Apr 26, 2013 10:25 pm

Ok, i've found myself with both kaepernick and Wilson. I'm completely torn here. It really doesn't make sense to keep both. There is interest in both for a trade. Who do I trade away? My heart is with Wilson but rankings point to Kaep.

I'd trade the one you could get more for.

I've of the mind that Kap has a higher ceiling, but they both carry about the same market value. So in an ideal situation, I'd trade Wilson, but they're so close, it's a matter of which brings in more.

Kaepernick for me. Seattle runs the ball more than anybody else in the league and I think that limits Wilson's upside. At the same time, SF has obviously been making moves over the last couple of years to get more and more explosive.

That said, I wouldn't lose sleep if I had Wilson as my QB.

Wilson by fair margin for me. Better pure passer who can run . Kap is better runner who isn't the pure passer that Wilson is. Really curious how things shake out this season . Head to Head last yr Wilson proved he was better. Ya they split but in SF game close, in SEA blowout. Lastly Wilson was rookie while Kap was 2nd yr player who had full year in system before he became starter.

I prefer Kaepernick by a pretty hefty margin quite honestly... I think he proved himself to be an excellent passer last season. He has GREAT weapons there in Crabs and V Davis and a few up-and-comers. And with that long stride I was shocked at how easy he made a 40 yard run to the endzone look last season...

If I had a choice between Kaep, Wilson or Cam I'd take Kaepernick right now... I think he's only begun to scratch the surface, while I'm not sure how much more we can expect from Wilson...

Prefer Kaepernick...in the real world, they are both 'winners' and better QBs than what they do inb Dynasty

I wouldn't be in a rush to trade either of them right now. I think their values are only going to ascend.

id rather have wilson, i actually think seattle has the better offensive weapons and think they open up the passing game more this year.... but id say it depends on the offers for each if you are fairly even on the two.

IF you NEED to trade one, I'd definitely shop both as they should bring quite a bit back to you; however, I think I'd hold until you decide who you want leading your team. IMO - I think they start out slow as defenses start to figure out the read-option, but they will continue to improve and their value will grow.

I own both in 1 QB league, been getting stupid offers like Forte straight up for Kaep, I mean seriously. In my mind, one could falter, then I'm left with a backup, which is fine. The ideal would be both get better, and I get some reasonable offers a capable backup + for one of them.

For Kap read option important part of offense . For Wilson read option a throw in gimmick like a reverse. If defenses catch up to read option hurts Kap more IMO .

Depends on the haul you get in return, as mentioned I'd consider keeping both. Then you're not guessing which one will be superior, develop or regress. If you can get a top talent at RB/WR I'd make the deal but I would't trade out of a position of strength just because. Also, I'd keep Kaep. I think his ceiling is the #1 overall QB. Risky? Sure. Unproven? Perhaps. But the sky really is the limit with him IMO.

Clearly biased.... Kaep had the highest Qb Rating on passes more than 20 yards down field, it has nothing to do with who is a better passer. I think they are close I think Kaep is better, but he plays in the more conservative offense.

Bias? Yes... but I really look forward to revisiting this after week 17. Hawks offense was beyond conservative weeks 1-8. If I had both I am trading Kap for two reasons..

1. Majority prefers Kap

2. I believe Wilson is superior

Right or wrong my opinion. Just like wild cat, run & shoot and Mike Martz offense. NFL will catch up to the fad. Read option won't be as successful this year.
