Stephen Hill vs. Isaiah Pead

Postby seahawks506 » Tue May 01, 2012 9:03 pm

Among my favorite 2nd tier prospects this year are Pead and Hill. Without any positional need, who do you like better? I like Hill a lot and would probably lean towards him, but I still believe Pead can be at least a somewhat valuable back in the future (especially in PPR). Randle is in the mix, but I'm not as big of a fan.

And yes Allen, this is my dilemma in our draft.

If it's for the team in your sig, than Pead. Even if not, Pead.

I think Hill will struggle early and would be reluctant to buy him now. I don't trust NYJ to know what to do with him, and the impending Tebow v. Sanchez battle will not help his development. Of course I'm also crazy enough to think Keller is a good TE limited by Sanchez. If Keller can't be consistent and can't pad his stats with TDs in previous years, then I don't see Hill making any impact early.

Everyone knows what it will take for Pead to make an impact this year - SJAX injury. But decent production in a COP role will increase his value between now and next year. The only risks to his value are injury and next year's draft. You could point to Hunter - good production, hype train, but neutered by drafting a similar RB higher the next year. But Pead was a top 50 pick.

I had Hill a tier higher than Pead pre-NFL draft, so I'd be prone to draft him higher than Pead now that we know the landing spots. I'm not as eager as some to anoint Pead the successor to SJax.
