Re: Darnold vs Lamar Jackson
I'm not going to state I believe Lamar will have too much exposure to injury, etc. I just don't know if he's a good passing quarterback.
He and Josh Allen were saved by their rushing production, which I'm not saying isn't a component of fantasy. Overall, I think Darnold is the better QB but how much more of an advantage will Jackson give you with his rushing ability? Dunno.

Re: Darnold vs Lamar Jackson
Give me Darnold pretty easily. Jackson's rushing production is definitely enticing, but I'm going Darnold for the following reasons:
1. Say what you want about Gase as a head coach, but he's an offensive mastermind/QB whisperer. From Peyton to Cutler to Tannehill to Osweiler. His track record working with QB's is super impressive.
2. I'm willing to forgive Darnold's poor start/inconsistent play to being a young rookie who had one of the worst supporting casts in the NFL. Jackson didn't have much help either, but I'd argue the Ravens had a better offensive line and coaching staff.
3. Darnold finished the season very strong.
4. Jets have a ton of money to spend and though there isn't a whole lot of talented free agents this offseason, they no doubt will surround Darnold with more talent than last season
I like both players. Don't want this to seem as a slight against Jackson in any way. Just like Darnold and his future situation more.

Re: Darnold vs Lamar Jackson
I don't really get the Gase reasoning. Peyton was great before Gase... Cutler, Tannehill and Osweiler don't have very impressive resumes. Unless I'm missing something and they had way better numbers with Gase.
All that said, I like Darnold but if I'm looking for QB1 production/potential, I'd lean Lamar here. I have serious doubts that he figures the passing game out, but if he improves a little, his rushing numbers will make him valuable. Darnold will need to improve a lot in the passing game and that team is missing a lot of offensive weapons.
As a backup, Darnold may be more reliable, but as far as upside, I like Lamar. It's close though and I wouldn't fault anyone for going either way

Re: Darnold vs Lamar Jackson
I'd rather have Darnold.
Re: Darnold vs Lamar Jackson
Darnold pretty easily if I might need him to start, or it's a SF league (hitting on QB is so much more important). If we're talking a bench QB in a start-one league, why not shoot for the ceiling with Jackson?
Re: Darnold vs Lamar Jackson
In a 1 qb where you already have Cousins I’ll take a gamble on Lamar’s upside

Re: Darnold vs Lamar Jackson
I've got a 2QB league and I drafted darnold over Jackson last year and would take him over Jackson by a lot. That said, I'm a 1QB league I think I agree that I'd shoot for the upside of Jackson depending on if you already have a middle of the pack or better QB as an alternative. The only way I don't do that is if you believe darnold will eventually be a top 5 QB.

Re: Darnold vs Lamar Jackson
Darnold is the much safer player and will likely have more consistency and a higher floor then Jackson. Jackson will have some huge games in the future and some duds I'm guessing. Darnold is the better pick for the long run.
