Tevin Coleman Vs. Rashaad Penny

Postby pnrsteelers » Wed Sep 19, 2018 5:48 am

A manager in my Sig 2 Team has offered me Rashaad Penny for Tevin Coleman. I really like Coleman especially for next year when he is a FA however Penny is young and I do like his talent but hate the situation. I am not much for trades and these two players seem close in value so, is it worth the risk to make the trade or just stand pat?

That team is really nice and it seems you have plenty of depth at RB. Why not try and go for Penny if you like the talent? I think it's close but could see Tevin perform well elsewhere. Also possible Penny is just the next SEA RB flavor of the week. Who knows at this point? I think it's a toss up but comes down to who you like more and if you want to wait and risk it for Penny to pay off

Agree with DC. Penny may be good, we don't know yet but until Seattle does SOMETHING at OL we may never know. Coleman has proven a solid contributor year after year. If he goes on to be a starter anywhere (except NE and SEA) his value is greater than Penny's imo.
QB - Lance, Winston
RB - CMC, Swift, Walker, Sanders, Robinson
WR - Metcalf, Higgins, Godwin, Thomas, Jeudy, Wilson
TE - (no TE requirement in our league-but flex eligible)

Coleman will be a timeshare again next year. There's a major pipe dream around here that he'll be a 250 carry guy next year. Doubt that one.

If you like Penny's talent then go for it. It was two ugly games. Things change fast.

It's too soon to seriously consider that trade offer. Penny's value is uncertain and without sufficient sample size to measure accurately and his team is going through a rebuilding process. Coleman's floor is well established and for these few weeks elevated by Freeman's injury. At minimum if a rival is hot for him extract more value than Penny alone - grab a first round draft pick, too. Otherwise decline for now and leave the door open for later. Coleman could end up some team's RB1 next season - or not - but either way he has a healthy floor and his ceiling has promise, too. There just simply isn't enough info on the table about Penny's value to gamble a clear value on a speculative one.
QBs: Patrick Mahomes, Trey Lance, Tua Tagovailoa
RB: Jonathan Taylor, Joe Mixon, Saquon Barkley, JK Dobbins, James Conner, Travis Etienne, Tony Pollard, Brian Robinson.
WR: Ja'Marr Chase, A.J. Brown, Deebo Samuel, Jaylen Waddle, Chris Godwin, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Chase Claypool, Chris Olave, Odell Beckham, Josh Palmer
TE: George Kittle, T.J. Hockenson, Taysom Hill, Trey McBride, Isaiah Likely
PK: Nick Folk
(IDPs, start two per week per position):
DL: Danielle Hunter, Myles Garrett, Alex Highsmith, Aidan Hutchinson, Chase Young,
LB: Roquan Smith, C.J. Mosley, Logan Wilson, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoa
DB: Derwin James, Jeremy Chinn, Xavier McKinney, Jalen Pitre

* Ten team league started in 2014.
** 40 player roster, 30 Keepers per season.
*** Red denotes 2022 draft pickups.

This is how I see it. Coleman is more explosive but he is never going to be a bell cow the same way Mckinnon would never be a bell cow. Penny, while less explosive IMO, has the build to be the guy.
