Baker Mayfield vs Sam Darnold
Who do you like more, particularly for upside? I own Darnold (team in sig) but Baker was just dropped and is now on waivers. I have the #1 waiver and was thinking of trading Darnold for whatever I can get (hopefully a 2nd, probably a 3rd) and then picking up Mayfield.
Regardless of my situation though... who do you guys got? If you had to pick a QB of the future today, which one would it be?

It's close for me, but give me Baker. He has better long term weapons in Njoku and Landry. Darnold has a lot of questions regarding who his targets will be.

I think you misspelled MAYFIELD

Nope Darnold was a the superior prospect for the year and a half leading up to this draft and was the consensus #1 until the Browns got cute and the Giants lost their damn minds.
Re: Baker Mayfield vs Sam Darnold
I'm not sure if that's accurate. Darnold was the consensus #1 going into his Junior year of College but had a very disappointing year and tons of turnovers. All draft process no one could make an argument for why Mayfield wasn't deserving to be the #1 prospect other than his smaller height. He was statistically better than Darnold and every other QB in just about every single QB category.Nanananananana wrote: ↑Sat Sep 15, 2018 4:11 pm Nope Darnold was a the superior prospect for the year and a half leading up to this draft and was the consensus #1 until the Browns got cute and the Giants lost their damn minds.
Re: Baker Mayfield vs Sam Darnold
I had Darnold 1st and Baker 2nd in my rookie ranks.
Allen went first then I believe it was Rosen. Darnold went a few picks ahead of me so I happily grabbed Baker. Would rather have Darnold but I'm now rooting for Baker haha
FWIW I tried trading Baker + for Darnold. Was shot down with no interest in Baker.

Baker, of the other QBs the guy with the best long term chance to be better than Baker is Allen if the Bills sort out their team in the next few years. If Baker was 2 inches taller no one would discounting Baker.

Hmmm..... yes it would appear Mayfield may have the edge for now.......

Re: Baker Mayfield vs Sam Darnold
Darnold is terrible, but the funny thing is he won't be declared a "bust" because he'll still be in the league 5 years from now, lingering around like Tyrod, throwing 7-yard passes and not outright losing games. Just doing nothing to win them.
Give me BM by a million miles, just like Mahomes over Trubisky last year. Anyone on the other side can enjoy their "safe" players, I'll enjoy the lasers and TDs.

Re: Baker Mayfield vs Sam Darnold
I'm all on the Baker train but I also think its too early to declare Darnold as terrible, he's a rookie on a terrible offense with no weapons besides Enunwa who I'm pretty sure was an UDFA. Also Darnold was not far behind Mayfield on deep throw accuracy according to PFF so he has the capabilities to do that. A lot of rookie QB success has to do with scheme and coaching and if the coaching is limiting his downfield plays or trying to keep the training wheels on him to limit mistakes (his biggest issue) the then offense is going to incorporate a lot of dink and dunks.Multiple Scorgasms wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 5:36 am Darnold is terrible, but the funny thing is he won't be declared a "bust" because he'll still be in the league 5 years from now, lingering around like Tyrod, throwing 7-yard passes and not outright losing games.
