Hilton vs Cooks

Postby PhiladelphiaJack » Fri Jul 06, 2018 12:09 pm

PPR league, let's assume we have a healthy Andrew Luck for this debate.

TY Hilton (age ~28 years, 8 months)
or
Brandin Cooks (age~24 years, 10 months)

I say Hilton gets a slight edge because he can slide into WR1 territory while I think Cooks is capped at WR2.

Would definitely like to see some more input between these two. I have both on a team and I value Hilton slightly more because I think he has a higher ceiling. He is 4 years older though. I see Hilton as a WR1 ceiling, and WR2 floor (with Luck). And I see Cooks as a WR2 guy. I could just be overly optimistic that Luck comes back strong though.

In general id rather have Cooks, but worries about his role year 1 in LA are legitimate. On a win-now team I might take Hilton.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

If competing, I'd rather have Hilton. But because of the age difference, Cooks probably has slightly more dynasty value.

Hilton for me but it's personal preference.

Cooks. Age gap is pretty substantial, and the uncertainty surrounding Luck makes it an easier choice for me.

I own both. I think it’s Cooks without question. He’s 24 and has 2 WR1 finishes (and another where he was literally one spot away from being a WR1).

I have no issue with Hilton, but the only reason we’re debating the two in dynasty is irrational fear of Cook’s situation. People are looking at Watkins output last year and assuming Cooks will do the same, but Cooks is a much better, complete and consistent WR.

Cooks for me due to age and Luck’s uncertainty. Cooks has also shown to be a skilled player in his own right. Hilton showed what can happen this past year, and I’d rather remove the risk of the older asset and lower production. Hilton would be focused to teams wanting to win right now...but you don’t even know if he can help you. I’ll go the safer route.

Cooks. Should do better than Watkins did in that offense. A lot more weapons to detract from him.
