Cooks vs Corey Davis
Cooks vs Corey Davis
Start up league...who do you have as the better pick for your WR1? First two picks were RB

Re: Cooks vs Corey Davis
No worries at all. I am probably taking Cooks over Davis personally. I dont even thinks its close if you are trying to come out of your start up to compete this year...its a little closer if you are thinking long term and projecting Davis to hit his upside.
Re: Cooks vs Corey Davis
Really didn't want to start RB, RB - but have DJ and Melv...it appears it's going to be Cooks/Davis as the best WR available...unless I want to go the J. Howard route

Corey Davis
Re: Cooks vs Corey Davis
Oh boy here we go....this was a heated topic last time around lol but I'll be taking Davis all day. Cooks is on a new team with a QB that doesn't take many shots down the field. I think Davis has the skillset to be a consistent WR1 on a weekly basis whereas cooks when will you weeks and lose you weeks. Would you rather have a guy that scores you 14-16ppr points each week or a guy thats going to score 4ppr points 50% of the time and 30ppr points 50% of the time? I'll take the 14-16ppr points every time.

Haha, very true! It comes down to do you want proven, WR2 production (with WR1 and WR3 weeks)...or the high upside WR1 production. It really depends on how risk adverse one is imo.Titans95 wrote: ↑Tue May 01, 2018 7:20 am Oh boy here we go....this was a heated topic last time around lol but I'll be taking Davis all day. I think it also is really how you view the players too. I personally find it really hard not to believe Corey Davis will emerge is the clear top WR for the Titans and I think that provides a floor of a mid/low WR2 like in the 18-20 range and I think it has the ceiling of top 10. Whereas I know Cooks has proven it but He's also going to a 3rd team in 3 years which I think says something, And I also think that based on the way the rams used Sammy last year they aren't interested in necessarily taking tons of shots down field so much as just forcing the defense to respect Cooks speed and not stack the box against Gurley every play. So IMO while Cooks is the proven WR talent I think that their Ceilings are both top 10 at the position but I don't see a world where CD isn't at the very least getting damn close to that 100 target mark whereas I could see cooks getting 60-70 targets in that offense...The Red Rooster wrote: ↑Tue May 01, 2018 7:23 amHaha, very true! Re: Cooks vs Corey Davis
To add to my last comment I think that while Cooks is an incredible NFL WR I don't necessarily think he's an incredible top 15 fantasy WR. I think Brees and brady are 2 of maybe 5 QB's that could get that top 15 production from cooks and I definitely don't think Goff in year 3 is capable of that. I think Cooks value increased everyone else's value on the rams more than Cooks himself.

You certainly make valid arguments that could play out as you have described. I guess this is why there was/is such a debate between the two players!

But Mariota is going to do it for Davis? I think that Cooks is easily the better player, personally.Titans95 wrote: ↑Tue May 01, 2018 7:38 am To add to my last comment I think that while Cooks is an incredible NFL WR I don't necessarily think he's an incredible top 15 fantasy WR. No Mariota isn't better than Goff but Corey Davis isn't a one trick pony field stretcher either....and how is Cooks easily the better player when we haven't even gotten to see Davis really play?FantasyFreak wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 10:53 pmBut Mariota is going to do it for Davis? My favorite thing about both these threads is how no one thinks Rishard Matthews is good. He's better than Woods or Kupp, and Taywan Taylor is also going to be a good NFL WR.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

Re: Cooks vs Corey Davis
i see upside in davis sure but he has alot of competition for work just like cooks does so taking that into account along with them only being a year and change difference in age im pretty easily leaning toward cooks here. i think the person saying to expect 15 ppg out of him is being awfully gracious. i do think davis will be good but to rely on any wr in that offense to put up those pts weekly is too much for me. imo davis' upside isnt worth the risk
