Ty Montgomery

Why is everyone so down on Ty Montgomery after last season? I get that Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams emerged as capable backs last year but when healthy it seemed like Montgomery was living up to expectations. Now it seems like people don't expect him to even have a relevant workload. He's obviously the best pass catcher of the trio and looks to be just as capable of a runner. Is there not just as good of a chance that he emerges as the lead back coming into 2018 as either Aaron Jones or Jamaal Williams?

I am holding him. I have liked him prior to his RB days but believe he will be more hybrid. The recent news of him coming in bigger and stringer shows me he is likely a RB. He creates havoc on NFL teams and if he is healthy, he could have a bigger workload than folks seem to think.

I don't remember him having sickle cell but thats definitely a concern. Last years injuries didnt seem like they were caused by sickle cell rather just getting hit too hard. I think with Randall Cobb still on the team it wouldn't make much since for him to go back to WR. If its true he hadded 5lbs this offseason that would make him 6' and 220 pounds. That is a RB body through and through. I really like him as the most versatile RB on the team and should definitely be in for pass down and 2 minute drill situations.

The article has some coach speak hints that are in his favor referring to him pre injury as the "workhorse" and clearly stating he is a rb, not wr.

I am waiting to see what happens in camp and preseason to decide whether to hold, or sale.

What I'm trying to decide is if I should try to target him over Jones or Williams in a startup currently going on. I think he could be a steal

I am guessing you can get him later then Jones and Williams, and he could be the more valuable.

if you believe theres an equal chance he lands the gig as jones/williams then yes you should target TY and wait like hell because both jones and williams will go way earlier
