Mixon for Devonta Freeman?
Mixon for Devonta Freeman?
Just curious. is trading freeman for a younger higher upside guy worth it? All I have at RB is Cook and Duke johnson so if mixon busted I'd be screwed

Re: Mixon for Devonta Freeman?
FWIW, in my most recent startup, Mixon went in the second round with Freeman in the third.
Re: Mixon for Devonta Freeman?
Well now that Mixon is no longer a rookie, Marvin Lewis won't absolutely despise playing him. Coach speech has been good for Mixon saying he's going to be their bell-cow but who knows how that'll translate to the regular season. I think if you were going to trade Freeman away, I'd ask for Mixon + a little more since the person getting Freeman knows what he is getting while Mixon is a big question mark.

Re: Mixon for Devonta Freeman?
keep Freeman
Re: Mixon for Devonta Freeman?
Mixon should have more dynasty value, but if a team is competing, I can see taking Freeman over him. With that said, I wouldn't at all be surprised if Mixon outscored him as early as next year. I like both, but think Mixon has the higher upside.

I'd rather have Mixon.

Re: Mixon for Devonta Freeman?
Haha Marvin Lewis is a name i will tend to mispell myself since he doesn't want to leave
Concerning the thread, i may be a Mixon believer, Freeman stays the best of both...for now.

Re: Mixon for Devonta Freeman?
Mixon all day long ... aside from coach speak they also seem to be investing in OL(although that could change after the draft).
Having suffered through watching every Bengals game last year (damn you to hell Sunday Ticket ), Mixon really did look good. He was sabotaged by terrible blocking & even worse play calling. Later in the year it got better, but early on in the season anytime Mixon (or Hill for that matter) was in the game the Bengals were going to run.
Woohoo ... first post. Voyeur no more.

Re: Mixon for Devonta Freeman?
Freeman - he's proven and may very well likely be the 3 down bell cow back when Tevin Coleman becomes a free agent next year.
I loved Mixon as a prospect and coming into the league but he really wasn't that special his rookie year. He looked slow and non-explosive which was completely counter to what I thought he would be. Combine his tape last year with what I presume to be a lack of work ethic, I forsee Mixon washing out just like a lot of RBs do in his position.
Regarding lack of work ethic, I foresee some posters who would want to challenge my presumption. The reason I think this is because of the following:
(1) Knock Out - obviously he's done everything right regarding this since the incident but even so, its hard to imagine how anyone could do that. Reflects poor character which is correlated with poor work ethic.
(2) Parking Attendent incident - again poor character -> poor work ethic
(3) Marvin Lewis quoted "You should show maturity" - while this is in response to a quote Mixon said earlier about getting not getting touches, it is also likely a due to a culmination of behind the scenes events in practice, film room, etc. Clearly Marvin Lewis is not a huge fan of him. I never remember him saying that to any of the former Bengals great (even Chad Johnson)
(4) Jewelry lawsuit - minor, but again shows lack of focus if he is splurging 200k on jewelry before even getting drafting. Not sure exactly where his head is it.

Re: Mixon for Devonta Freeman?
I see it quite a bit different ... in the rare occasions that the Bungles schemed to get him in space (motion, misdirection, run from shot gun, etc.) he looked very explosive and had a good rate for gaining chunk plays. Plus, he made some amazing moves just getting to the LS on many of occasions.Lssd2012 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 24, 2018 12:05 pm I loved Mixon as a prospect and coming into the league but he really wasn't that special his rookie year. My biggest concern still remains that I think Cincy is a failed franchise ... from a player standpoint he tries to bounce things a little too often, but in his defense there we no holes most of the year.

Re: Mixon for Devonta Freeman?
Other than getting tackled after a long catch before reaching the end-zone, I thought he showed a tremendous amount of explosiveness and plenty of speed for a back his size. I think he mostly just needs to work on his vision and patience.
And I really don't see how any of the points you listed reflect on his work ethic at all.
I'd choose Mixon over Freeman in a vacuum, but if I owned Freeman I might want more than just Mixon in a trade.

Re: Mixon for Devonta Freeman?
All of those incidents besides for maybe the marvin lewis quote has nothing to do with football itself. He's a thug....who cares? Most of them are. Ray Rice decked his wife and he was the same person years before but still put up top fantasy stats.Lssd2012 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 24, 2018 12:05 pm Freeman - he's proven and may very well likely be the 3 down bell cow back when Tevin Coleman becomes a free agent next year.
