no way.. hunt was good for like 5 weeks last year.
Barkley for President - 10 Teams, 23 Man Rosters, QRRWWWTFDK, Cap is $852 this year and Increases by 5% each year while each players contract goes up by 20% each year. Players can be signed 5 years at a time max unless a rookie, which is 3 if drafted. If won in auction can be 5 years. Can only extend a player once, EX signifies that player is Extended. Devy players count against cap as well.

QB - Jameis Winston EX 2YRS at $42 and Sam Darnold 2YRS at $14

RB - Saquon Barkley 2YRS at $35, Dalvin Cook 1YR at $17, Rex Burkhead 1YR at $4, Ty Montgomery 3YRS at $14, Damien Williams 1YR at $2, Royce Freeman 2YRS at $10

WR - Amari Cooper EX 5YRS at $50, Sammy Watkins EX 3YRS at $60, Golden Tate 1YR at $60, Devante Parker EX 1YR at $35, Kenny Golladay 4YRS at $2

TE - Travis Kelce EX 5YRS at $52, Austin Hooper 2YRS at $12

D/ST - Rams 1YR at $2, Chiefs 1YR at $3

K - Stephen Gostowski 1YR at $3

I own Pick 3.9 in a Devy depleted Rookie/Devy Draft.

I was more than happy with his out put as a rookie and the games he didn’t do so well was a coaching flaw imho chiefs were at ther best when hunt was game planned in .. Barkley better maybe but he has done squat in the nfl yet and there have been so many generational talents that have fell flat in there face .. I like the proven commodity .. don’t think ther is a wrong choice here

Yeah, much more than 5 games. I 100% want Barkley over Hunt, but without knowing landing spot for Barkley, th1s would be appealing. Still think I want the talent of Barkley though.
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts

Right. Ajayi had 1200+ yards last year, didn't seem to help him much this year now did it.
Ajayi certainly is not Hunt :nono:
True. Ajayi is much more impressive physically. ;)

Mahomes is a much better QB, already? My gosh this is a foolish statement.

And Coach Reid, who totally went away from Hunt for a half season?

Re: Hunt for 1.01

Postby Valhalla » Fri Feb 09, 2018 12:05 am

I'd take the 1.1 here.
Hunt was great, but his situation was also great, and has now changed quite a bit. Why does everyone just assume it's for the better?
1. Mahomes has some spectacular looking passes...and then some boneheaded looking passes. He may end up being more spectacular than not and really open things up for Hunt, but that's far from guaranteed (and really, how much more could it have been opened up for him?). For all we know, the offense might have a lot more stalls early in Mahomes' career. Smith was running an efficient ship for the most part.
2. What if Mahomes can't read and appropriately attack/adapt to a blitz nearly as well as Smith? Just due to the experience, I'm assuming he can't. What does this mean for Hunt? Well...what if the D-coordinators start attacking the Chiefs offense with a lot more run blitzes than they dared against Smith? What if the balance of the D shifts to being more aggressive in sending linebackers and safeties into the gaps? There are certainly ways to make the run game a LOT more difficult, and it's not that complicated of a system when the QB can't regularly make the defense pay for aggressive run blitzes.
3. Smith gets the ball out quickly and is conservative, running methodical drives dependent on the run, but not so dependent on sustained pass blocking. Mahomes is known for being a down-field passer that will take more risks...which will call for a good pass blocking RB. I'm not really sure how good Hunt was in pass protection (maybe he was great?), but I do remember reading somewhere that Ware was one of the best pass blocking RBs in 2016.
4. Ware is back. I'm not saying he'll take over or push Hunt into a heavy timeshare, but Ware is highly likely to take more carries than West did as Hunt's relief. Also, if pass protection for Mahomes becomes an issue (he won't likely get the ball away as quickly as Smith), Ware is likely to earn snap share there as well.

I say all this knowing that I'm painting a bad picture for Hunt without looking at the potential downside of Barkley's situation. For all we know, Barkley will land in a situation where he's in a timeshare as well. Maybe the Browns sign Hyde in FA and then draft Barkley or something...who knows. Everyone assumes that Barkley will dodge all the bullets or that bullets will just bounce off him regardless...

I guess when it comes down to it, I'll take the guy I enjoy watching the film of more. For me, it's Barkley.

Yes I think Mahomes will be better than that chucker same as you guys think Barkley is better than Hunt..
But QB doesn't work like that. All he is is a projectable prospect with a rocket arm. It's REALLY hard to determine how good a QB will be in the pros.

RB is as easy as you can get, to project whether or not a stud prospect will be good.

Saying Mahomes is absolutely better than Smith is exactly like saying Devante Parker is so much better than Landry, circa 2015-2017.

Give me Hunt. Just don't see a reason to move a young bell cow for a potential bell cow. We have no clue where he is playing or anything.

While I absolutely agree with your logic in theory, I'm just not sure if Hunt fits the bill here, looking towards the future. I think there's a decent chance he's not THAT special, but rather had a bit of a Jeremy Hill start to his career, or even Alf Morris. I'm not saying that's likely, but I think it's a distinct possibility.

I don't see much "special" when it comes to Hunt, but rather I see a very smart and sure runner, with good hands and fantastic balance. He's definitely good, but I'll take Saquon.

I would take Barkley over Hunt 10 times out of 10. With that said, the value of 1.01 is why it is such a good deal. You won't be able to move Hunt for what you will be able to move the 1.01 after the combine or draft or after Barkley throws up 1 big game. If it was Hunt after week 3 no way you are trading him. Well just wait until Barkley blows up there is no way you get him for Hunt straight up, no way no how. Values change so drastically with recency bias, so that is why I think the 1.01 and the shiny new toy Barkley will be a better investment if you wanted to cash out for more in the very near future.
