Saquon Barkley Career Comparison

Postby ArrylT » Tue Jan 30, 2018 4:41 pm

Pick as many RBs as you like - which RBs careers would you be satisfied having if you knew this is Barkleys outcome - or pick none of the above as a write in vote ...

RBs who are still under 28 have been excluded from the list because their career has not yet hit the "down slope"

Hence why you do not see Leveon Bell, Gurley, Elliot etc.

Edgerrin James, but hopefully with a healthier age 23-24 season.

I think the problem is in the question attached to the poll - it implies something different to what the OP actually wants. Not everyone is super high on Barkley, I'm certainly lower than a lot of people it seems. So I can understand why people *could* vote T Rich or DMC from the wording in the poll... Maybe.
Dynasty - 9th year, 12-team, Standard scoring, 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2FLEX, 1K, 1DE/DT, 1LB, 1CB/S - 25man roster / 6 Taxi Squad
'17 Champ, '18 Runner Up, '23 rebuild

QB Watson, A Richardson, O' Connel (TS)
RB Gibbs, Akers, Dillon Carter, Bigsby, Chase Brown, Mcintosh, Tucker, Hull (TS)
WR Metcalf, DJ Moore, Addison, Meyers, Van Jefferson, Collins, Claypool, Mingo (TS), Hyatt (TS), Wilson (TS)
TE Higbee, Freirmuth, Otton (TS)
K Joseph
DE/DT Hunter
LB Franklin Simmons
C/S James

Frank Gore is the #5 rushing leader of all time and only has 1/3 of the votes of that of McCoy and less than half as many as AP. Very clear ageism at play in these replies by people looking at dynasty value and equating it to career success... Even the 4 guys ahead of him in career yards would have voted for Gore not to mention every RB that's ever played the game.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

Maybe they are down on Barkley. I certainly don’t think so but T Rich and D Mac were both the clear cut 1.01 so it’s not impossible that Barkley busts ..

I voted for S Jackson ..
Standard 10 man
QB Rogers - Big Ben- Jackson-
RB Gurley- Bell- Mixon - Conner- M Brown - Burkhead, Warren, Ballage
WR OBJ , Julio- AJG- Kupp- Sanders- John Brown- Allison- MVS- Hogan - T Williams- Humphries
TE- Ertz - Reed-

Unfortunately there is a cap on 15 being the limit for poll options, as such it is simply impossible to list every great RB or RB that could have been great.

So apart from current RBs who had to be over 27, I also excluded all RBs drafted prior to 2000, and chose mainly from RBs who were first round picks, or have had strong careers.

Finally, if people who are not high on Barkley, wish to vote for McFadden or other perceived busts that is fine - it is part of the exercise - every opinion has value, even those that differ from the norm. In the end, assuming we can get a high enough volume of votes, we'll at least have some idea of what the consensus would accept as a decent outcome based on current hype and draft acquisition cost.

Doesn't this worry you that McCoy is the most compared to? McCoy is good, but he's not Zeke/Gurley/DJ good, which is what everyone thinks Barkley is going to be??
Barkley for President - 10 Teams, 23 Man Rosters, QRRWWWTFDK, Cap is $852 this year and Increases by 5% each year while each players contract goes up by 20% each year. Players can be signed 5 years at a time max unless a rookie, which is 3 if drafted. If won in auction can be 5 years. Can only extend a player once, EX signifies that player is Extended. Devy players count against cap as well.

QB - Jameis Winston EX 2YRS at $42 and Sam Darnold 2YRS at $14

RB - Saquon Barkley 2YRS at $35, Dalvin Cook 1YR at $17, Rex Burkhead 1YR at $4, Ty Montgomery 3YRS at $14, Damien Williams 1YR at $2, Royce Freeman 2YRS at $10

WR - Amari Cooper EX 5YRS at $50, Sammy Watkins EX 3YRS at $60, Golden Tate 1YR at $60, Devante Parker EX 1YR at $35, Kenny Golladay 4YRS at $2

TE - Travis Kelce EX 5YRS at $52, Austin Hooper 2YRS at $12

D/ST - Rams 1YR at $2, Chiefs 1YR at $3

K - Stephen Gostowski 1YR at $3

I own Pick 3.9 in a Devy depleted Rookie/Devy Draft.

Wait, ageism in FAVOR of an about to turn 33 years old Adrian Peterson who hasn't been fantasy relevant since 2015?

That's um, interesting.

McCoy is absolutely "Zeke/DJ/Gurley good". You do know that, right?

Shady has been one of the best skill position players in the NFL of the last decade.

Huh? McCoy's been a stud. I'd love the McCoy comp as a Barkley owner.

I don’t know, I just don’t remember McCoy’s value ever being that high..

Oh yeah he definitely was. He was a stud for a long time. He's just older now.
