Eric Ebron

Postby gunzwil guinea pigs » Fri Jan 05, 2018 4:34 pm

2014: Ebron was picked by Lions (1.10!), signed 4 year contract with 5th year option (was exercised summer '17). Lions drafted some TEs (at least depth-wise). So this upcoming season is probably his last in Detroit? Whats your take? Is he a buy low/now candidate?

I have no idea :ugeek:

Towards the end of this season Ebron came on strong and finally showed what he is capable of.

I believe he will be with Detroit long term. He will continue to build his rapport with M. Stafford.

Great buy low option.

I'm trying to acquire some shares as well.

I'd buy low, but wouldn't want to pay too much. I'd offer a 2nd.

As a Lions fan...agree with what was said above. He came on at the end of the year. It's never been about his talent, but his hands. I can't recall any bad drops the second half of the season. It seems Quinn really likes him

As long as his hands don't harden up and turn into bricks again this off season, I think we saw what he is capable of and now is the time to buy low while you can, if you want him. If he continues the way he did at the end of the season, his cost is just going to go up.

I started buying him at last years trade deadline, got him for a 3rd (or so) in several dealsand tried to get him tossed into offers. Really pleased with how he came on late last season.

I'm buying Ebron anywhere I can. His price is low, and I wouldn't be surprised if next year he's worth a mid-1st.

"Per ESPN's Dianna Russini, team officials remain "open" to trading Ebron and gave the tight end no assurances that he'd be back next season. Ebron's $8.25 million team option for 2018 becomes guaranteed on Wednesday, so the Lions could be looking to strike a deal before that deadline. Drafted as the 10th overall pick in 2014, Ebron has never come close to meeting expectations in Detroit."

This is becoming interesting. And as an Ebron owner, I don't necessarily mean that in a good way.

So...I guess you just scanned past that previous post where I mentioned he may be traded.

No, in fact I was agreeing with prior posts suggesting that he'll be with the Lions long term. In that case I think his value continues to go up from its current price. If he does get traded, I suppose it depends on landing spot, but he still seems like a good draft capital guy in which case if his hands remain softened and he winds up in the right spot, he's still an excellent buy low option.

That barely tells the story of the bust that is Ebron. He was the 10th pick. Of the 5 listed only 3--Gonzalez, Winslow, and Ebron--were drafted in the 1st round. Ebron has 2070 yards and 11 TD after 4 years, that's atrocious. Compare that to Gonzalez and Winslow:
Gonzalez had 3041 and 24 TD
Winslow had 2459 and 11 TD and he missed 14 games in his rookie year!
