Zach Ertz value

Postby Dirty Mike&the Boys » Tue Oct 31, 2017 10:22 am

I recently proposed a trade (counter offer) to an owner of a team that is in clear rebuild mode at this stage. He doesn't have many parts for the future, and is 3-5. I am 4-4 on the bubble, and currently have the team in my sig.

I offered one of my three (latest) 2018 1st rd picks, and a 2019 2nd rd pick, plus Ben Watson for Ertz... Is this an overvalue or undervalue of Ertz? I figure Watson is 36, and on his way out, and see this as a first and second for Ertz. Having Ertz and Engram as my TE's moving forward would be solid.

TE - M Andrews | Friermuth

That's a huge undervalue for Ertz. He's worth an early 1st at this point, if not more.

Eh, I don't think it's a huge undervalue. Watson is worthless, so you can't even count him.
If you're in a TE premium league it's different, but other than that I wouldn't give up more than a mid 1st for him. So a late 1st and future 2nd may be a bit of an undervalue, but not grossly. I'd probably want more, but wouldn't give up more.

As an Ertz owner, I wouldn't take your offer, especially the way he is going this year, the long-term investment from Philly, and the good QB situation.

FWIW, I acquired my first Ertz share this past week. 12 team PPR non-superflex. The deal was:
Send Wentz, Sammy, Foreman
Receive Ertz, DT, Hogan

I saw DT and Sammy as close depending on competing/rebuilding and Foreman/Hogan 2nd round value as is currently.

The thing that sucked about the trade was that it was post Thursday night and my only TE at the time was Julius Thomas, so I had him stuck in my starting lineup.

I appreciate the input. This is a TE premium league, where catches are 1.5 pts, so I may have undervalued him.

He ended up counter offering, but his counter offer was off in left field. He proposed Garoppolo for two 2018 first rd picks, which I rejected. I ended up countering with a 2018 first, 2019 fourth, as well as Hogan from CLE, but I expect that to get rejected. I'm not very high on Garoppolo personally.

I don't see you getting him for anything less than a high 1st - with that said I wouldn't be offering that unless a TE was the last piece I needed to win/contend.
