Tanner Gentry

Postby dazza » Thu Sep 14, 2017 12:59 am

Obviously early and pure speculation at this point, but he had a good camp, good measurables, college production was there last year for Wyoming.

With Meredith and White both out, is he the WR to own in CHI (assuming there is one)?

I have no faith in Wright, and someone besides Cohen has to catch passes

He might be worth a stash if you have room. I believe they will give the Vets a shot first- especially while Glennon remains under center.

However, once Mitch gets in there I think his value shoots up. He may not materialize this year- but I'd be willing to bet his ADP shoots way up in 2018.

Sure, but wasnt he cut and then later signed to the practice squad? Worth a gamble but if you are going that deep, Id rather grab Kasen Williams in CLE.

Another guy who was cut and had spent 2 seasons on Seattle's practice squad. It's not necessarily a death knell on someone's chances.

Teams don't have enough practice time now that players won't have as many opportunities to stand out immediately so unless the team spent draft capital on you or you can contribute to special teams in addition to the offense, it's going to be hard to stick to the 53. Even then, guys drafted are getting cut.

This is actually kind of what I was thinking. I just don't see any vets he couldn't pass in short order on the depth chart.

And he was initially on the practice squad, but they called him up to the roster after White went down. I like Kasen, but until the Gordon matter is resolved there-I know the Browns said they were done, but can they afford to be if he's reinstated?-I'm staying away

I've got a waiver claim on him in my deepest league, but no FAAB. We'll see if it pans out

I picked him up as my end of bench flier in both my leagues. Gentry said he got cut due to uncrisp route running. He can certainly catch the ball. Preseason highlights and college show how well he attacks the ball. I'm not expecting much but with the poor quality talent he's competing with, I expect him to get some decent playing time.

Im stashing him where i can. Mitch isnt practicing with the first team offense, and seemed to be building a repore with him. Whenever teams change qb's there seems to be one wr who gets elevated in status based on their history with thw new qb

The kid is going to come in and start getting some play time. After he begins producing in some real games it's going to be hard to sit him with people like Wright, Wheaton, McBride playing instead. I think week 6-7 should be his breakout week (maybe week 8 against the Saints).

Then next year after they cut/trade White, Gentry will be the #1 or #2.
