I'm in a debate with a league member and I need the forum to help settle it.
I put Enunwa up on the trade block and a league mate (in so many words) called him a bum. Lol! So, I made the comment that Enunwa will outscore any rookie WR this year. Now he wants to bet our 2018 3rd round draft pick over it.
If a rookie WR gains more fantasy points than Quincy Enunwa, I have to give him my 3rd round pick. If I win, I get his pick.
Would you make this bet?

Re: Quincy Enunwa vs the 2017 Rookie WR class.
Man, that's a good one. I like Enunwa, but his QB situation scares me. Having said that, I'm not very high on the WRs this year, especially when it comes to immediate production. The only WR I would expect to outscore him would be Davis, and even then I wouldn't be surprised either way. Zay Jones would be the only other guy that would worry me if Sammy continues to miss time and he become the #1 option on that team.
Re: Quincy Enunwa vs the 2017 Rookie WR class.
Davis & Jones would be the only ones I would worry about too.
The Jets are a disaster, no doubt. What has me a little bullish on a guy like Enunwa (by bullish I mean WR3/WR4 tops) is they should be facing a lot of base/prevent type defense in 2nd halves. If the OC scouting reports are true, they want Enunwa to be able to catch quicker passes and use his YAC to move chains.
I'm with you though, I don't see any rookie capable of 1,000yds this year and that's about where everyone is projecting Enunwa to be. I might take this bet just for the fun of it. Lol!

Re: Quincy Enunwa vs the 2017 Rookie WR class.
I really like this idea, and I have to agree with you. I would take Quincy in this bet. He's also a good sized target, so when they do get to the red zone, I can see them taking shots at him instead of settling for field goals. Have to assume they will be playing from behind most the year.

Re: Quincy Enunwa vs the 2017 Rookie WR class.
Think you almost have to accept the bet for your self respect whether you're right or not considering you're the one that made the claim that Enunwa will outscore the rookie WRs.

Re: Quincy Enunwa vs the 2017 Rookie WR class.
These kinds of bets (player vs the field) are always bad bets for the person picking the player. Odds are in his favor of winning just because of the quantity of all the other rookies that you are betting against. Random events will help him out more than you, if Quincy gets injured, you basically lost the bet. If Corey Davis gets injured, he still has 10 other potential WRs to get the yards needed for the bet.
I like the idea of the bet but I would want his 2nd round pick if Quincy does better than any rookie WR but he gets your 3rd round pick if Quincy is beat by a rookie.

Re: Quincy Enunwa vs the 2017 Rookie WR class.
Just looking at the PPR numbers from the past few seasons. Quincy had 110 points last season, he was beat by 2 rookies (M.Thomas w/ 168 points and T.Hill w/ 140 points). If we look back 2 season, Quincy would have been beaten by 2 rookies (A.Cooper w/ 143 points and W.Snead w/ 117 points) and Diggs was close and only played 13 games his rookie season.
Notice both seasons there was a rookie that we didn't expect to be in the top of the points scored as well. Just my 2cents but I think you should get a better pick in this deal because the odds are against you.

Re: Quincy Enunwa vs the 2017 Rookie WR class.
True, there is always a chance a rookie will beat the narrative. But, guys like Cooper, Hill & Thomas had historically exceptional rookie seasons. Plus, Enunwa wasn't a #1 WR the last two seasons.
That's what makes this an interesting bet. It's not a lock for either side. Lol!

I agree that the field has better odds, but you're basing this off of last year's numbers. I would expect Enunwa to improve from a year ago, making this closer.IBall2 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2017 6:18 am Just looking at the PPR numbers from the past few seasons. Re: Quincy Enunwa vs the 2017 Rookie WR class.
I do agree that he will improve upon his numbers from last year but it's very hard to determine exactly how much improvement we will see in the fantasy stat sheet. Not sure who the QB will be, he will most likely see the #1 CB constantly since he will be pegged as the #1 WR on the jets roster, opposing coaches have a full year of tape on him now so they can exploit his weaknesses easier now. Even a 20% score increase would put him at 140 points this upcoming season which would tie him with Tyreek last year. I still don't like those odds.Goddard wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2017 8:57 amI agree that the field has better odds, but you're basing this off of last year's numbers. Re: Quincy Enunwa vs the 2017 Rookie WR class.
I don't think there is much point looking back at Enunwa's last couple of seasons. The Jets had some 'decent' WR's in front of him. Although I have traded him away a couple of days ago, I think he could win this bet. I think Davis and Ross are in crowded situations for year 1 production, Jones could be the main threat here and he is in a run first offense. Garbage time (half of every game) will be Enunwa's best friend this year.
