Baldwin or Jarvis

Postby dizzler » Fri Jul 21, 2017 1:44 pm

Title says all. I got an offer and it's basically take Jarvis or take Baldwin+. I like both guys a lot. Jarvis is a solid Wr1 play each week and Baldwin is a good Wr2 with Wr1 capabilities. Baldwin is just so hit or miss where he either scores 9 or 29. I'm just curious if I should go with just Jarvis or Baldwin+ some change.

Owner is much higher on Jarvis than he is Baldwin as well.

Is this ppr and what is the + on the Baldwin side? In a ppr, I'll take Landry over Baldwin straight up pretty easily.

PPR correct. Nothing has been set as far as what else is being offered. Owner just said would you rather have Jarvis or have Dougie B + some more. It will most likely be picks though I'm assuming

I think an early round 2 is missing from the Baldwin side.

Well, not knowing what would be added to the Baldwin side, and since its PPR , i'd take Jarvis unless he adds alot to Doug.

Interesting replies. I would rather have Baldwin than Landry. I think they have similar skillsets, but Baldwin is better in the redzone, and his role is more secure with the contract and Miami's offense looking like it will continue to run through Ajayi.

Yep, I agree. As long as my team is somewhat a contender, I'd rather have Baldwin. Totally agree with everything you said, plus Baldwin plays with the better QB and less competition for targets. The only way I see it lean towards Landry is if you're that worried about the age difference.

I think at absolute most, the difference is a random 2nd. No way anything more than that.

It would take Landry+ for me to get rid of Baldwin. He's a WR1 and Landry is the WR2 with WR1 upside. The numbers don't lie over the past couple seasons and for some reason Miami signed Stills to an extension and there's at least a decent chance that he doesn't re-sign. Free agency could be good for Landry but it could also be bad. And finally for me it's Wilson > Tannehill, not to mention the target share Baldwin receives is better.

Seattle is as run heavy as Miami.

Non PPR it's close but I'd go with Landry because of age, in PPR it's easily Landry.

Except last year Seattle ranked 18th in pass attempts while Miami ranked 31st. And every indication and report has Miami wanting to go more run heavy as they move forward while Seattle is going more and more towards giving Wilson more control.

Why?
You do realize they both had the exact same 94 receptions last year? And that Landry had only 6 more targets? And that Miami has lots more competition for targets and throws less? And Baldwin was actually more consistent with catch numbers?

They have been very run heavy historically, but I don't think that is true now. Over the last year and a half, Seattle has been passing a lot more (basically since Baldwin broke out). I think Miami would like a little more balance going forward, but I don't think they will pass as much as Seattle. Even if they do, Landry has more competition for targets and offers less TD upside.
