Corey Coleman vs Devante Parker

Postby Zak_Dewitt » Fri Jun 09, 2017 5:02 pm

Would you rather own? They are both young players, that have dealt with injuries but are very talented with high upside.

Coleman for me... Too much competition in Miami and Coleman is cemented wr1 on that team.

I like Coleman. Lots of mouths in Miami and I'm still trying to find out what all the fuss is about with Parker. Hope he explodes this year but hasn't really impressed me yet.

I'd much rather own Coleman both short and long term.

Great question. These 2 are close IMO, both this year and for the future.

This season I prefer Coleman by a bit, but long term they're almost even (I'll give slight edge to Parker with his size & speed)

Coleman might have a little more value right now, but i'd much prefer Parker. Guy has prototypical size and speed of a WR1 and seems to finally have his head on his shoulders. Parker also has the offense around him to succeed, whereas i'm not sure Coleman does anytime soon. I'll take the larger player 9 times out of 10, and like the flashes Parker has shown. Colemans off-field reports have concerned me a bit as well, and I just see Parker more as a knucklehead than having gang ties potentially.

Coleman is slightly faster but also gives up around 4 inches & 15lbs to Parker (Granted... Coleman's ability to jump through the roof to makes up for some of that). So while both have shown flashes, & both have had stretches of lack of production & ticky tack heath issues... Overall in a vacuum I would agree that I would prefer Parker as I think his more prototypical measurables give him the slightly higher upside/edge. But I do like both

We don't even know that for sure. 4.37 at pro day, impressive for sure. But Parker's 4.45 at the combine means more to me. Just a small piece of the puzzle tho.

To me, this debate clearly hinges on the QBs they play with. Right now we have a good idea of what Tannehill is 9and what Landry is) - so that gives us a better indicator on Parker. Because of that.... right now I like Parker. If the QB situation changes in Cleveland... whether it be someone like Kizer stepping up or them landing a prized prospect or free agent next summer - then obviously Coleman's stock surges.

What we do know - is that one of those three things is very likely to happen for Cleveland in 2018 - meaning Coleman's value will shift then based on an improved QB situation.

For 2017 - Parker
For 2018 and beyond... Coleman has the higher ceiling and lower floor based on potential situation.

Coleman is a more complete WR and had a similar rookie season to Parker despite worse QB play and more missed game than Parker. To me, this one isn't close.
