Doctson or JMatt
Re: Doctson or JMatt
Doctson for me. Way more upside with him. Value wise they're not too far apart though.

Re: Doctson or JMatt
Very tough call, but I'd go Matthews.
Re: Doctson or JMatt
I really have no idea. I guess Doctson has more upside, but I'm not convinced he'll be better than Jmatt.

I feel the values are similar between the two but I think Doctson has a good bit more upside.

That's just it. Doctson would have to be really good to outperform what Matthews has already done, and they're the same age.

Re: Doctson or JMatt
I'm voting for Doctson here, against my usual judgment. I usually give the nod to a player who has already produced in the NFL, but I've lived in Philly and see a lot of JMatt. He is one of the most hated Eagles, among the fan base, of the last 10 or 15 years—a ball dropper, who disappears for long stretches, and a ball dropper. It is hard for me to believe the team doesn't look at him think they can do better. He'll be more comfortable back in the slot this season, and his upside is WR2 in my opinion for 2017, but I wonder if he is going to have the longevity we'd expect because he's so inconsistent and could lose his role. For that reason, I am going with the upside play of Doctson, who I think has real low end fantasy WR1 skills. —Best, Steve V.
Re: Doctson or JMatt
This is a true toss up for me. Doctson may have a little more upside, but Crowder and Pryor are firmly ahead of him at the moment. Also, what is Washington's plan if Cousins isn't extended?
As far as Matthews goes, we know nobody is running to overpay him. But, consider these factors.
1. 2017 will be the first season he's had the same QB two years in a row. An entire offseason with the same person should be a big positive. In his first 2 seasons, he shared time with Nick Foles, Butt Fumble and Sam Bradford. Not the most exciting signal callers for a young WR.
2. He will play primarily out of the slot where he is most comfortable.
3. Jeffery & Smith should be much better at drawing defensive attention away from him, which hopefully will leave him open in the middle with Ertz.
I'm not calling for Matthews to haul in 1200yds, but his floor should be much more stable going forward. Just has to stay healthy.
So in summary, Doctson may have the upside, but the risk is slightly higher imo. Matthews could be the safer play, albeit will never be a top 10-15 guy.

Re: Doctson or JMatt
You can find guys that give you JMatt production off the WW every year. Doctson has a chance to be a WR1. Not this year, but maybe year 3.
Re: Doctson or JMatt
I own both JMatt an Doctson so this is an interesting one for me. I want to say Doctson because I'm tired of waiting on JMatt to be what we thought he would be (probably like all of his owners). However, all of the points mentioned above are true. It's not like JMatt can't have more production simply because he's been in the league 3 years.EL_Dyno7 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2017 9:14 am This is a true toss up for me. So does Doctson really have much more upside? JMatt was taken in the early 2nd round of the vaunted 2014 class, so it's not like expectations weren't high. Think this is a classic case of fantasy players putting more value in the unknown for no reason other than they haven't been disappointed yet. It's the same reasoning that leads owners to trade their productive vets for unproven rookies every year.
So to off my answer I think I'd rather have JMatt because he has a clearer path to production this year and people will be less forgiving of Doctson if he doesn't put up WR2 numbers this year. Is that an unfair benchmark? Absolutely, but it won't stop owners from doing it. Meanwhile JMatt could very well be a low end WR2. I like both players and think they still have/need time to develop into their full potential.

Yes, there will be a couple WRs every year that come out of the woodwork to post 1000+ yard seasons, but good luck predicting who they'll be.
And saying Doctson has a dynasty WR1 ceiling is simply making a hot take that can't technically be disproven, but that doesn't make it true.

Yea, that's just silly, unless you're playing in a 6 team league, or teams with 10-15 man rosters.lukkynumber13 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2017 1:38 pmI have a lot of respect for your opinion DD, but this is BS.Dynasty DeLorean wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2017 6:59 am You can find guys that give you JMatt production off the WW every year. I don't see anyone like that on any of my waivers. And definitely no one who's only 24 years old and already averaging those numbers.wildabeast49 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2017 10:19 pm to be fair Jmatt is averaging 890 yards and 6 tds a year. very replaceable numbers.
