Ajayi vs Moncrief

They're both polarizing but thy aren't even close to each other.

Dez Bryant & TJ Yeldon are both polarizing as well, but they're in different worlds...

Not really analogous. Moncrief and Ajayi are close in ADPs I've seen.

I hear you, and you're correct in that my analogy was an exaggerated one, but in terms of real life value, most dynasty owners value Crief as a late 1st whereas Ajayi is looked at closer to the 1.01-1.04. May not seem like a chasm, but that's a big void. At least 1 or 2 random 18 Firsts of difference

Small sample size, but none of the 1.01-1.04 in my league appear willing to move their pick for Ajayi without a significant add from my end. The lowest pick I'm confident I could get straight up for him is 1.06 (although I own 1.05 so that muddies it a bit).

I just don't think his valuation is quite that high generally. Yeah there's probably a few early first owners out there who are super high on him and would be willing to move a top 3 first for him, but I don't think that's typical. So he's more mid-first than early-first, I think. I also think a lot of people out there (myself included) would jump on Crief for a late first. I think the gap is maybe more like 1.04-1.05 versus 1.06-1.07, which is close enough that reasonable people could disagree.

great Q. Lean toward MonCrief. I realise hes had a few bad years... and was more a red zone threat in 2016 as apposed to a yardage monster. Perhaps my gut tells me he will be more productive over the long term (which is perhaps a blue sky view) and Ajayi will have a smaller window of productivity (based on his significant knee issues)

Not sure that this post adds much to the discussion...

I agree with Lucky13 on this one.

I am actually shocked on the disparity on a consensus or the closeness in ranking between these 2 players.

Based on the data that we have Moncrief is still speculative. Ajayi has proven that he's a 3 down workhorse back. The argument of RB1/RB2 is another one in itself, however, being a 3 down back is rare in today's league.

I think the concern regarding Ajayi is, can he replicate last season's success and stay in the elite/RB1 category, albeit staying healthy.

With Moncrief it's health and production. Hilton is the number 1 target for Luck, Doyle seems to be nice...so what's there for Moncrief? What do we really expect from him? (Not to say he will bust but we are just unsure and he hasn't had his coming out party yet, unlike Ajayi, IMO.)

I think a debate between Moncrief and D. Parker is more ideal.

Ajayi vs Moncrief seems to be unanimous, IMO towards Ajayi.

Give me Crief, I'll chase the ceiling and take the career longevity vs Ajayi. I think Ajayi has capped out, I was never a big fan and after a few 200yd games i'm still not convinced.

So if not convinced by Ajayi's big games, I guess I don't understand the appeal for Moncrief. 2 1/2 seasons and he has 4(?) games over 100 yards and not really any others that are close. I'm guessing he's going to go the way eventually of Michael Floyd and some owners just won't quit him.

I'm low on Ajayi, but this isn't even close. Ajayi by a mile. Moncrief can stay on waivers.

I'll take Ajayi in a vacuum.

This is interesting. I actually had offered a trade of my Moncrief + 3rd for his Ajayi like yesterday, thinking it'd be a toss-up. It was declined with a note saying he didn't like Moncrief. He needs a few more 16 point games to build back some steam I guess

I'm surprised there are people picking moncrief. What has he done so far? Ajayi looked really good last year and don't see Miami drafting anyone to compete for touches anytime soon.
