Cooper or Nuk?

Postby smmcfarl » Fri Mar 31, 2017 6:20 pm

I know most sites have Cooper around the 7-8 range and Nuk around the 10-11 but how do you guys see them comparing. I think from a talent standpoint that Nuk is a much greater athlete but he has the QB concerns where Cooper will have Carr. May be looking to trade one of them before the season starts and I am debating to which one I should try to trade.

Nuk's in a fairly precarious situation. I know he performed very well one season with a dumpster fire at QB, but I just don't know how reliable he'll be as long as he's in Houston. Talent over situation, but Cooper is also very talented and in a much better situation so I have to go with him right now.

Talent: Cooper>Nuk
QB: Cooper>>>Nuk

Obviously, targets mean a lot in receiving statistics. (yes targets can also be recorded as balls that aren't catchable sometimes) But the QB play is a HUGE factor. In 2015 Nuk blew up with his biggest games coming from Hoyer, who the last 2 years has been a pretty darn good QB, he just simply can't remain healthy. If cooper ever hit Nuk's threshold of targets, he would just blow the doors off the walls. But everything keeps trending up for Cooper and Nuk's situation keeps getting worse. Osweiler is gone so that's a hard feat to conquer. I'm a biased Cooper fan, simply because I love him. But I see a major breakout in 2017.

Nuk 2015- 203 targets: 111-1,521-11
Cooper 2015- 130 targets: 72-1,070-6

Nuk 2016- 169 targets: 78-954-4
Cooper 2016- 142 targets: 83-1,153-5

pretty sure there was an identical thread about these 2 players a couple weeks ago .
give me cooper - better athlete , better qb plus 2 years younger- while age would not matter in general when dealing with a 22 and 24 year old it still is 2 plus years of elite production potential .

I'm biased as a Cooper owner, but Cooper, easy.

Better talent, better athlete, better QB, better offense, younger.

This may be offensive to some, but I believe DeAndre Hopkins can be the best receiver in the league if the Texans find him a better QB.

While Cooper is great, I find his inability to separate from Michael Crabtree as the Raiders' clear WR1 (rather than it being a 1A/1B type deal) intriguing.

I believe Hopkins is better.

I'll take the younger and more talented of the 2. Give me Cooper.

In reference to the OP, Cooper is clearly the better athlete... maybe you meant better WR skills.

This weirds me out too, however he's still really young and only entering his 3rd year. Crabtree is no slouch and is a seasoned vet.

For me, it depends on what you are after. Are you trying to get the most return? If so, then you probably move Cooper. If you want to keep the better player, then... I am a biased Hopkins owner so I would say keep Nuk. I do like Cooper being a little younger and Nuk's QB situation closes that gap but I just like Hops.

Also, if I am not mistaken, this is Hops walk year. If I were him and Houston showed nothing at improving QB, I at least see what other teams have to offer. I'm sure Houston will do everything they can to retain his services, but.... you never know how that will turn out. Just something else else to think about.

As a Nuk owner.... I'd take Cooper.

That said, if Nuk had Carr and Cooper was playing with the flavor of the month QB, I'd take Nuk.
