Ju-Ju Smith Schuster Dynasty value..Beast or Bust?

Postby bob b » Thu Mar 16, 2017 12:43 pm

Just wanted to get some feeling for Ju-Ju;

He is ranked #7 on this site by the experts...however, he is rarely discussed on other sites or other media...rarely a mention at the combine. It seems like his value was high a year ago but has declined rapidly...so #7 seems a little high (I have 1.5, 1.7 and 1.8 in our August draft) ..anyone have strong feelings (possibly supported by facts) about Ju-Ju one way or another..thanks much??

I like WRs that exhibit some elite trait. Speed, size, route technician, huge hands, something, anything. I just haven't gotten that from Juju.

I think the other USC WRs underachieving doesn't really help. Schools/coaches recruit certain types and regardless of the reason guys don't reach their potential, it becomes hard to separate Juju from the guys who came before him. It's why you trust a guy from Clemson (Watkins, Hopkins, Martavis) or you get intrigued by a Georgia Tech guy (good-Calvin, Demaryius, bad-Hill, Smelter?) but you're hesitant with USC (Williams, Garrett, Lee, Woods, Agholor).

I'd rather not be in position to draft Juju at 1.08 so I'm looking to move up or will just pull the trigger on a TE.

Similar to the last post, he does everything well but nothing excellent. I see a middle of the road WR2 max for him. I would take him at the 10th overall spot at the earliest. I personally prefer Zay Jones over Ju-Ju and I think Zay will be drafted first.

I never watched Hopkins in college but his overall profile is very similar to JuJu.

this is the best dynasty site I have found , however wr get over rated here with stunning regularity especially prospects and young wr so just keep that in mind as you mesh this site's opinions with views from other sites as well as your own observations.

JUJU was such a hot commodity after putting up great numbers his freshman year and sophomore year. I think he just really did not do enough this past year for people to truly consider him a mid-1st round guy.

In context if you were to take: Davis, Williams, Ross, Jones/Godwin then Juju, getting the #5 overall receiver in the class really isn't that bad (dependent on league specifications) but I would not use a first on him in my SF leagues.

Keep beating his stock down guys, I'd love for him to fall in drafts lol.

I've not been one to fall in love with JuJu, and I think his stock represents the overwhelming consensus that he's not in the top tier. He could be viable in the top ten if he goes to a good situation. I'm just not sold on his talent. He routinely celebrates after a routine catch. That's another indication, imo.

My 2 cents worth is that I don't particularly like to take limited WR's in the 1st round. He has a limited route tree, shows a lack of desire sometimes and according to reception perception lined up on the outside right 83.3% of his snaps.

Seems he might have a steep learning curve in his transition, I wouldn't be surprised to see him have a very limited role his first year.

yes it has been very informative...thanks everyone. I, personally am not sold on him and wonder why he continually shows up at #7 of the first round. I don't get it.

Neither beat or bust, solid WR2 potential imo.

As mentioned earlier. He doesn't really stand out in any particular area. Solid everywhere though. Maybe he'll step up his game in the NFL.

I have the 1.08 and 1.10 in a superflex draft later this year, and I'm not taking him at 1.08. I'm considering him at 1.10, but will probably elect to take Trubisky or Howard instead.

This is something I've been trying to figure out also...Not a big film guy and somewhat new to dynasty, but this guys value is pretty hard to figure out. I remember this time last year people were talking about him being the number one receiver in this class. Is USC his biggest negative mark? Is it more about his regression? Is this a guy that people are worried about translating in year one and not thinking about three/four years down the road? I just don't get it...

I wonder if it's the coaching at USC? Sounds crazy but USC has pretty much hired their HCs internally ever since Carroll left: Kiffin, Sark, Helton and even Coach O....

Don't know if there are any USC fans here that could comment but are they running the same type of offense EVERY SINGLE year? And if so, that system throws these young, 4* and 5* WR into the fire but can't develop them into something more.

5* Agholor, Woods, Juju, Patrick Turner (3rd RD)
4* Steve Smith, Jarrett, Lee, Mike Williams

How can none of this talent pan out (Lee is still hanging on by a thread)? Truly bizarre.
