Mixon vs Fournette vs Cook

Postby jryanw » Sun Mar 05, 2017 12:12 pm

Is it just me or does Mixon look better than both on tape? Fournette is just as good of a runner but catches 0 passes. We can't take the video away but if you did would he have a chance as the 1 RB taken? I currently have 1.05 and I'm trying to get up to 1.03 because I fear he's going to go that high once he gets his landing spot.

I've had similar concerns. The way I see it is all have negatives: Fournette, doesn't seem to be prominent in the passing game; Cook, not as athletic as we hoped; Mixon, well...

So they all have their drawbacks, but which do we think can be changed the easiest? For me, I lean Fournette, followed by Mixon, then Cook.

I was waiting for this thread. I knew after the combine performances Mixon would be talked about. Let's see what his pro day brings.
I also have the 1.05 pick and I'm staying put. It would cost a lot to move up and I don't see the price tag being worth it. Ultimately I'd be happy with 6 different players at that pick, the top 4 plus Mixon and McCaffrey.

I'm not sure Fournette is weak in the passing game just because his team didn't utilize him that way.

I tend to agree. LSU has run an archaic offense for years. I don't expect LF to catch a ton of passes, but possibly enough to keep defenses honest.

To answer the question, I really think it's hard to wrong with any of them. I'm 50.1% leaning toward Mixon over Fournette right now just because I see him as the most balanced. I'm guessing his weight is around 220-225 and he looks every bit as quick & elusive as Cook. It shouldn't, but Cook at 210lbs makes me a tad nervous. Plus fwiw, Mixon is the youngest of the trio & has about half the touches (365) in college as Cook (700+) or Fournette (650ish).

The combine didn't change my opinion of Fournette or Cook. Both will be ready day 1.

Wait a minute, Fournette can't catch? I see no reason to believe he can't catch the ball consistently in the NFL. Check out this clip from last year against Wisconsin, shows great all around ability out of the backfield with getting downfield, finding a nice open pocket for his QB to throw to, great over the shoulder catch, and knows he's going to get hit right away by the safety but still focuses on bringing the ball in and doesn't get alligator arms knowing the hit is coming.

I have no issues with his lack of targets in college.

6'1 228 lbs. He is perfect in every way. He should be the 1.01 in drafts, but he is a steal at 1.03 or later imo.

I think I'm sold on Mixon at 1.01. Unless he's drafted by the worst dumpster fire team on earth, how can you pass on his upside? He's a Zeke clone, and only 20yrs old. Heard he was catching the ball effortlessly in passing drills too.

Yeah, unfortunately i started to watch him more and more the last few months, now i dont see a reason that you could not draft him at 1.01. Especially if he was in fact 228lbs at 4.43. I understand that teams will take a bit off that time, but....ok he ran a 4.46...
