The big, fast, strong back did what he was supposed to while the fast, shifty back didn't at least from an athletic testing standpoint.

Certainly from a talent standpoint you don't believe this. Cook isn't nearly as fast, strong or shifty as Mixon. Plus, Mixon is heavier. I agree no one should pay 1.01 for Mixon. If they like him as much or better than fournette they should trade down to 1.03 and take him.

Taking Mixon before Cook would almost surely force someone to take him at 3 or 4 leaving a top WR at 1.05. Unless you need 2 WR's, it doesn't get much prettier than that.
Yeah the more I read Your post, it sounds like the safe bet. Can't really be too upset with Fournette, Mixon and either Davis/Williams leaving this rookie draft. And maybe pull a TE in the 2nd round. It is pretty.

I have the 1.01, 1.03, and 1.05. I am 99.99% certain I'll be picking Mixon at 1.01. I'll take either Fournette or Cook at 1.03 and Davis or Williams at 1.05 and be one happy man. As far as the 1.01, Mixon just has something that the other 2 are missing. I'm just happy to be able to have 2 of the 3 RBs.

This is quite the extreme mock draft, with 4RB's 3WR's and 2TE's all going in the first round? That seems highly unlikely but even so, all 8 of the other RB/WR/TE's are "projected" to go before Mixon in this mock draft. So I see no different between this mock draft and a mock draft that has Mixon going in the late 2nd round where he is still the 9th RB/WR/TE off the board.

I like the way you look at that, Mixon moving up NFL draft boards makes it a lot easier for me to take him at 1.2 over Cook.

Mixon will go in top 90 for sure. Maybe even top 60. His talent is off the charts.

Fournette close 2nd and cook distant third for me.

If the team that drafts Fournette gets him 20-40 receptions a season along with his 250+ carries, I think he's #1 for sure. But at this moment we don't know who's drafting him and if they will keep him in for passing down work. I'm guessing no matter what team he gets drafted to, starts him off with only early down work and by the end of the season or start of next season they start working him into 3rd down duty to see how he holds up in the passing game. His huge frame should fair well in pass protection but from watching film it looked like his technique could use some work still.

Edit: For reference, last year some players in the 250 carries and 40 receptions department were Jordan Howard/Melvin Gordon/Jay Ajayi. I expect Fournette to be like that in year 1 with opportunity to grow in year 2.

This is a super draft for RB and I am clearly a SoonerFan. If you are in PPR I would look to draft mixon Or trade out of the pick. If not PPR, which I don't know why anyone would play, I would trade out of the pick and pick up multiple picks. Fournette is the best runner but inconsistent at best. I don't see him being a good NFL RB Anand he is lazy.

I've seen a few people claim he's lazy, but what are we basing this on? The bowl game?

Huge Mixon fan. But if Fournette is lazy what kind of numbers is he going to put up when he tries? I think last year he was playing not to get hurt. Dude is a beast. Trade up to top 2 and draft either. Sorry Dalvin. Slide time

I'm not sure where the lazy reference is coming from either. I think his lower numbers this year were more because of the ankle injury.
