Hooper and Higbee Value

Postby briank » Sat Mar 04, 2017 8:18 am

I'm thinking of targeting these two TE. What would it take to get one of these guys? Team in sig.

Hard to say without knowing your scoring format. Would you consider someone in the rookie draft?Howard, Njoku could be avaliable at your 2.01. Engram may be at 3.01. This could be an elite group of TE's with as much upside as Hooper & Higbee.

I updated my signature to include some information about our scoring. I will be eyeing the TE rookies as well. I'm just wondering if Hooper and Higbee's value is down because of the typical lack of production in their first year. I don't expect to be competitive for the next 2 or 3 years. Just thinking of trying to get one of these guys cheap if their perceived value is down?

Hooper is worth a mid/late 2nd, Higbee is worth a mid 3rd IMO.

I've tried to help, mostly by participating in polls. I'm new to dynasty, so I'm not comfortable giving advise in many of these threads. I'll definitely try to help more as I gain more knowledge.

Hooper's value is really hard to gauge, especially because Atl has Sark as their new OC. Just tough to know how he'll deploy his TE's in the NFL. Higbee is tough for me just because I don't believe Goff is a legitimate NFL QB, and LA's offense is an absolute dumpster fire. Talent is there, but are the opportunities?

If it were me, I wouldn't pay for either just yet. Don't know your league, but someone may just get tired of waiting and you could scoop one up for free.

I like Hooper quite a bit more mainly due to situation. Hooper is a nice RZ target for Matt Ryan and their offense is much better than LA, especially with a 2nd year QB at the helm. Both are good trade targets though if you can get them on the cheap (late 2nd for Hooper, 3rd or later for Higbee).

The Goff reason is why I prefer Higbee. I think he can be a nice safety blanket for him kind of like Barnidge was a couple years ago in Cleveland.

I would MUCH rather buy Hooper for a mid 3rd or Higbee for a random 4th (both realistic prices) than have to spend a late 1st on Howard, or early-mid 2nd on Njoku/Engram

I'd def rather have Hooper, but would try not to pay more than a 3rd & a throw in player for either.

If you have the roster size to acquire both, I would do it. A 3rd or 4th for Higbee. Maybe you can get Hooper for 3rd and a throw in player. Both could become solid contributors or could be cut from your team by the end of the year if you need the roster space.

I like Hooper, I own him. However, you may want to wait until after the rookie draft. You are going to get a few different cracks at the top TEs with your 2nd round picks this year.

I also like Hooper. I think he showed flashes last year and is worth a mid to late 2nd imo. Higbee is in that 3rd or early 4th range. I think Brian one thing, is the advice you get versus what direction you take as an owner. Some owners stay with names for a few years who never produce. Some love the draft and will trade decent assets for chances on a pick. Hooper is a 2nd year guy who has already started producing on a great team. I would take that direction rather on a chance of a late 2nd. There is a variable opinion on the board which is really great regarding forums. Take a look at previous drafts in your league as a good history on hits and misses.

So jump in and offer your opinion. Most here will offer their opinion and not make it personal. Enjoy and good luck!

I'm a big buyer on both Higbee and Hooper. Higbee has been talked up a lot this off season. Most likely will be the starter this year for the Rams. Hooper has gained the trust of Matt Ryan and should be a good RZ target. Prices will be cheaper than these rookie TEs coming out. Howard, Engram and Njoku will be low 1st to high 2nd picks. Most likely you can buy Higbee and Hooper for a late 2nd early 3rd. The TEs in that range of the draft will be guys like Hodges, Butt and Shaheen. All have talent but also have big questions about how they translate to the NFL.

Agree with the consensus. would rather use low draft capital on Hooper or Higbee... and yeah seems like hooper is the more valued of the two in leagues I am in, despite the small bump in off season chatter Higbee is currently garnering.
